Perambra -Thrissur

Perambra is a small town in Thrissur district of Kerala state in south India. It is located on National Highway (NH 47) 23 km south of Thrissur city and about 7 km north of Chalakudy.

Administratively, Perambra comes under Kodakara panchayat and Mukundapuram taluk. The famous tyre manufacturing company, Apollo Tyres Ltd is located in Perambra.

The closest railway stations are Chalakudy and Irinjalakuda both located 7 km from the town.

St.Antony's Church is one of the pilgrim centre in Perambra. It is the oldest church in Kodakara. It was established as a chapel in the name of St. Anthony of Padua in the year of 1830. The church was established in the year 1832 after getting approval from Kochi Maharaja and Methran of Varapuzha.

The Government Ayurveda Hospital Perambra, established in the 1940s moved to Perambra in 1960. This hospital is one of the three Govt. ayurveda hospitals in Kerala where Panchakarma treatment is available.

Perambra village declared as complete blood literacy village in December 29 of 2005. The village consists of about 8000 people, all of them tested there blood groups.Perambra is the third village, that accomplish complete blood literacy in Kerala state.

Puthukkavu temple, one of the oldest Bagavathy temple, is located in Perambra, "Thaalapoli" maholsavam" is celibrated every year on "Makaram 10th (Malayalam Month) with Nine Elephants.

Perambra is the Birth Place of the Member of Parliament : Lonappan Nambaddan. Lonappan Nambaddan is a leading figure in the Communist Party and so has won many elections. He started of as a school teacher , today is the MP from Kerala.

Perambra is rich village since almost everyone here works abroad, especially in the Middle East. The village is a house of various Alapatt Pambu Families. The land prices here have soared higher than most part of state. Some property values doubled in just over 10 months.
