Per Nilsson (born September 15, 1982 in Härnösand, Sweden), is a Swedish footballer. He plays in central defence, and his current club is 1899 Hoffenheim of the German 2. Bundesliga, which he joined 13th of July 2007. Prior to that he played in the Norwegian club Odd Grenland, which he joined before the 2005 season for approximately 3 million Norwegian kroner, becoming the clubs record purchase. He enjoyed a very good 2006 season, and ended up having the highest average rating of any tippeligaen player in newspaper Verdens Gangs season ranking.
In August 2006, Odd Grenland rejected a £1 million offer from English side Sunderland AFC, and he was widely expected to leave for a bigger club after the Norwegian season came to an end in November. However, no bids came in during the January 2007 transfer window, and Nilsson started the 2007 season with Odd Grenland. On the 13th of July, Nilsson finally joined German 2nd Bundesliga team 1899 Hoffenheim, with hopes of improving his own game, and helping 1899 Hoffenheim gain promotion to the German First Division.
