A perpetual motion machine is machinery that supposedly gives unrestricted free energy, ostensibly in support of other machines. Although claims for the existence and design of such machinery have been made, such claims are regarded as pseudoscience according to mainstream modern scientific understanding, because they violate the law of conservation of energy.
