People in Need (Člověk v tísni in Czech) is a Czech nonprofit, non-governmental organization that implements relief and development projects in crisis regions around the globe. People in Need has supported protests, human rights and democracy in countries repressed by totalitarian regimes. Currently the organization is working in Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Chechnya (in 2005 Russia banned further activity of the organisation in Chechnya, suspecting them of supporting local separatists), and Iraq. It is supporting democratic groups in countries like Cuba and Belarus. The headquarters of the organization is in Prague.
