[edit] Visa-free/Visa-on-Arrival Travel Access for PRC ordinary (Private) Passports
According to a study done by Henley & Partners, the PRC has a Henley Visa Restrictions Index of 18, which means that PRC citizens enjoy visa-free access to 18 countries and territories for short-term tourism visits. The PRC is ranked 78th out of 83 in terms of international travel freedom, which is one of the lowest scores in the study. This rating is far below those of Hong Kong SAR (#13) and Taiwan R.O.C. (#55) and is the same as that of North Korea (also #78). [1]
According to visa and passport information from International Air Transport Association (IATA) provided by Delta Airlines, the following countries and territories provide visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to holders of PRC private passport.[1]
It is estimated that 44 countries and territories granted visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to ordinary PRC passport holders. Only 20 countries and territories are visa-free accessible. Visa prior to arrival or pre-arrangement required for countries or territories not mentioned below.
Where visa-free access is permitted, such access is not necessarily a right, and admission may technically be at the discretion of border enforcement officers. Visitors engaging in activities other than tourism, including unpaid work, may require a visa or work permit.
