Hey nice work on the Detroit template, i hope you don't mind but i made come changes. Just some pointers, try not to stack into to many rows, stretch it out it get to blobby as a small box. Try to use abrv for the network info when possible. And on the Detroit one you might want to add the stations in Windsor on the Canadian side, since their basically in the same market. It really wasn't appropriate to completely reorganize the List of television stations in Ohio article and discard the old formatting. If you prefer to have the stations listed by market, fine, but take the effort to create the List of television stations in Ohio (by channel number) article. The television listings for many states are already in both formats.

I think the work you have done in the history section on the construction, etc. is really good, and probably could be added soon (eliminate the commented out feature). As you may already know, the credit for information sources you have listed can (and should) be footnoted at the point of first information use. - Its been needing a cleanup for a while now :). I think we can leave the academic units out for now too. We've got the main ones listed and linked. I'm more of an "exclusionist" in that I delete things I don't think add anything to the article. Its kind of hard deleting all of these interesting little facts and links but I try and remember that the goal is to have an encyclopedia article, not the definitive, end-all guide to UM. The next thing I think I will do is clean up the history section and move it to a seperate article. I saw from your votes on the "Featured Article Candidate" page that you have some knowledge concerning the appropriate use of images. I am thinking of nominating SS Andrea Doria for FA, yet I am trying to get an honest opinion concerning the images used. Could you look at the article and post your opinion on my talk page? Thanks. - Thanks for asking me. This is difficult article to get free-use images on: the ship was launched in 1951, and in the United States, no copyrighted image published after 1950 will have gone into the public domain.
- At a minimum, images used under "fair use" need to indicate the source of the image, credit the image's creator, and indicate why the use of the image in the article constitutes fair use. For selection of which images to use under fair use, images that are intended to be distributed widely such as publicity photos are better than other images. If you can find such an image, it would make a good lead image. If fair use images must be used in an article, their use should be kept to a minimum. You've managed that fairly well in the article: the only image that isn't really essential is Image:RuthRomanwithsonRichard.jpg.
- The US Navy or Coast Guard should have some public-domain images of the sinking of the ship, or of the wreck. I've replaced Image:Andrea Doria at Dawn.jpg with such an image; there may be more.

As far as I've been able to tell, Ronald20 (talk · contribs) has only used that User name, some computers at the Los Angeles Unified School District (IPs 204.108.xx.xx) and a dialup account from the ISP o1.com (see the info on his Talk page). If you would give me the names of the articles that you think that he's edited from an AOL proxy, I'd like to investigate further.
My guess is that he is a teenager with either a learning disability or some behavioral problem (OCD or Asperger's perhaps). He doesn't seen to respond to any attempts at communication, but I have seem some ability to learn by example. Because of that, one thing that I've been trying to do is not just doing reverts on all of his edits, but instead, for some of the articles, I also try to cleanup the article. I'll do some wikification, add more info, add references, add more links, etc.
If this keeps up, I may end up creating a RonaldWatch subpage to try to keep track of all the info on one page. (User:BlankVerse/RonaldWatch) BlankVerse ∅ 07:52, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
- It looks like you have several anons that are problem editors. You can see my analysis at User talk:BlankVerse/RonaldWatch. The editor adding long histories from 205.188.xx.xx is using AOL and is almost certainly not Ronald20. The editor at 24.18x.xx.xx is from Charter Communications, and again is almost certainly not Ronald20. Neither of these editors are doing edits the way that Ronald20 does, so that's another reason to assume that they are not Ronald20.
- The Ronald20 IPs are 204.108.xx.xx for the Los Angeles Unified School District, where he edits occasionally from roughly 7am to 12noon Pacific Coast Time. 66.81.xx.xx and 69.19.xx.xx are dialup IPs for the ISP o1.com that Ronald20 uses at home when he isn't signed on as Ronald20. Right now, though, I've submitted another article I've put a lot of work into, Columbine High School massacre. I looked over the images at http://www.panam.org/default.asp and assumed they can be used under fair use. However, there is one image that I want to keep but can't find the source or copyright information (Image:Clipper ORION III.jpg). It was uploaded by Simon Le Bon, but so far the user hasn't replied to my inquiries. Can you help with this? Hey, I've spent all morning reorganizing, copyediting, rephrasing, editing, adding, and fixing the article. I've added pictures, and with the help of a friend made the article flow from section to section. At the moment, I feel it probably is ready for featured article status, but I can't ever be sure. Thanks for your encouragement. I'm not going to leave Wikipedia, it just kinda ticked me off that someone decided to oppose it simply because I only took a week in resubmitting it. I didn't know you had to wait a specific amount of time to resbumit an article, and I really don't have the time to pour over it liek I did this weekend. Actually, I think I just overreacted a bit in just giving up. I guess I was just tired of editing the article so much just to have someone say it still sucked. I've decided to try one more time, but I don't know how to fix those pictures. Each one has a link as to where I found them. Except for the Denver Rocky Mountain News and the Cafeteria Surveillance pics which were on the article before I started working on it. You can find most of those pictures all over the internet, so I'm sure they're in the public domain. I'm going to try and fix the refferences to some of those sections, and see what else people think of the article with yet another peer review, before rebsubmitting it. Until then, I'll stick to moderating airport and airline articles, adding destinations, and cleaning them up on behalf of their wikiprojects. Thanks again for your support. - PRueda29
The image Image:Evacuating Columbine.jpg Can be found on Columbine websites and news reports around the internet. I believe it's probably more public domain than it is fair use, but I don't know what rationale I should put for it. As for Columbine Library, is there anyway to get around that? If not, I'll go ahead and make something on paint... it won't be as nice as the current one, but I've made miracles on MS Paint before. Thank you for helping me with the rationales. As you can probably guess, I've been going nuts pouring over fiar use articles on wikipedia trying to see how I can fix them. Also, can you vote for support, or is that not allowed since u normally moderate the page? PRueda29

Hey, thanks for adding the stuff about gun legislations. I meant to add it, but I completely forgot with the whole featured article and countless facelifts. Also, article length apparently doesn't matter as long as its under 85KB. The 32KB warning is an old tag from netscape 4.2 and before. In fact, an article ca't be considered for featured status until its reached at least 32KB. PRueda29

I don't think any of them are too intense. However, image 1 of the library doors doesn't do much either way for the article and I wouldn't use it. Image two is a good way to illustrate school security, while image 3 should be used because it is one of the most famous images of the event (even if it is a bit graphic).--Alabamaboy 01:01, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
Image 2 is the actual Columbine Library. Its a picture of it during the investigation, if you look closely you can see the yellow labels they placed for shell casings, and sadly, bodies of the deceased (including blood stains). Yes his name is Patrick Ireland. I do think that image 3 is good, but it might be a little graphic. My favorite is Image 2, especially if we place a caption that it is the Columbine Library after the shooting, but if you preffer #3, i'll go with it. - PRueda29

Ok, image 3 it is. I'll add it, and I guess I'll copy the rationale from another picture then you can check it. The image 2 picture is the Columbine library, not with bodies, but with yellow labels that show where the bodies were located. Image 1 is just the door and i don't think that's blood, but it might be who knows. That image lost already anyway, it's betwen 2 and 3, and I think 3 is the best to replace the current image for the library massacre. If we get complains, we can change it for 2, how about that?- PRueda29

It is a controversial topic, but it can't be ignored and put on the backburner simply because of that. The best way to learn from the incident is the discuss it and remember it with accurate accounts a NPOV. I have attempted to present the article in the manner, sticking to mostly facts and details, without touching the inaccurate hot buttons that still plague the community. Basically, the article is not only a retelling of the incident, but an encyclopedic gathering of that accurate details scattered around the internet, in other words, what an encyclopedic article should be. I would love to have this article become featured on the front page. In a way, it already is featured every year since it is noted on the April 20th "selected anniversaries" featured daily on the front page. If it is too touchy for the front page, I'll be happy with it at least being a good article. That fact alone is satisfying because it keeps the incident from being slashed and insulted by the misconceptions that plagued in the past few years. Also, I want to thank you for your support, and all the help you gave me with the pictures, copyediting, and adding the part about the impact with guns. I still can't believe I actually succeeded in making this article featured material; for a moment, I thought it was hopeless! Btw, how long does it usually take to for it to leaved the candidates page? PRueda29

Currently, this article basically consists only of links to various stations that used the UHF 61 frequency in Cleveland. Hey. As you might or might not know, I live in Miami Springs, Florida. The eye of Hurricane Katrina passed right overhead and we had tons of trees down. We have lost power and don't know when exactly it will be back. I am at a frend's house now, and since I can't regularly moderate the page as I have been doing, I want to know if you could help me by doing the tasks for the featured article until I can return back online. It will probably be another day or two at most. I'd appreciate it. I see the article is already at featured status and also wanted to know what is needed now for it be featured on the front page. Hey. You weren't insensitive, you weren't aware, so it's ok. Well, everything is fine where I live except for the fact a lot of trees fell. We didn't have any deaths in our county, all the deaths occured in Broward County to our north. The big problem was that it was a Category 1, and being experienced with Hurricanes, no one here took it seriously! Then, the news kept telling us it would strike between the Broward and Palm Beach County lines, but she instead turned south and struck between Miami-Dade (my county) and Broward, then midway down the county line she steared south and smashed into the western suburbs of Dade. The exact eye of the hurricane hit Miami Springs (my suburb) around 10 pm. We had our windows with no shutters (as we were told it would be minimal). I opened the curtain and a saw an awesome show with green lightning, and palm trees bent down nearly to the ground. Unfortunately, we lost power near 6 pm and still haven't gotten it back. My mom spoke to an FPL (Florida Power & Light) guy about when it would return and he said 11 pm tonight, but you can't be 100% sure. I'm kind of dissapointed that I wasn't able to witness the article become featured, but I'm glad it has now. Anyway, you should see the destruction we have here with the trees. Miami Springs is "tree city USA", we're located directly north of Miami International Airport. A lot of our main roads are still blocked by giant oak and ficus trees that toppled, while the shrimpy palm tree in my front lawn survived. Well, I'm starting to ramble now, I'm just kind of excited about having actually witnessed the strongest winds, I've never been right at the center of a hurricane, even though this is my fourth. I AM VERY angry about how the news stations here told us that it would be nothing but a little rain. We didn't even put on shutters, had the been stronger we could've had thousands of deaths. No problem. I do have a couple bus images, but neither are particularly good. I'll probably take some more pictures later this week, next time it's sunny and I have my camera on me. (On the other hand, maybe there should be some cloudy images -- they don't look great, but having only sunny pics would severely misrepresent ann arbor. I've known a lot of U-M students from warm places who come tour the campus in july, look at brochure photos, and then move here and are fucking miserable because it's cold and cloudy 90 percent of the time. The article is a great read, but I was struck by how poorly written the introductory paragraphs were, considering it's an FA. I made a few changes. [edit] Assistance with African American Literature needed
Congrats on getting the Columbine article to FA status. It truly deserves it. I apologize for not dropping a line about the FA upgrade earlier, but I've been involved in a discussion at Talk:African American literature. As you may know, African American literature is an article I recently brought to FA status. Anyway, one editor has an issue with how the article is structured b/c the article describes Black literature while following the history and politics of African Americans. To him, bringing history and politics into a literature article is wrong b/c the article should totally focus on art, form, aesthetics. I've already pointed out that Black lit is tied in with the history and experiences of Black people in this country. I also showed that Literature of the United States, English literature, Tamil literature and so on follows the basic sociological and historical framework that this article uses. This editor has made very few edits to the English Wikipedia (only 62!) and most people--through the FAC process and in comments now--have agreed that the article is currently set up very well. However, another user has suggested mediation and such, even though I have agreed with almost everything the other editor has suggested (with the exception of a total rewrite and restructuring of the article). I'm about to go crazy over this. I mean, this other editor has contributed nothing to the article except to say he hates it and now I'm expected to agree with everything he says? - Thanks for the comments. After I sent out a call for assistance, a number of people who had been involved in the article (like Geogre) gave their opinions which, for the most part, supported the view I had of the article. As a result, I think this will work out ok. I will, of course, keep an open dialogue with the editor who had the concerns. But now that all of the other people who helped developed and critique the original article have chimed in, I don't feel like such a voice in the wilderness. Hi. I reviewed again. Its good, but I'd still like changes to be made:
- In the =history=, please don't start with a left aligned image. Use a left-aligned image in the middle of the section.
- John Allen and Elisha Rumsey? The occupation of these people should be mentioned. Explorer, Hunter, President, etc.
- Kaw-goosh-kaw-nick in italics as it is a non-English word?
- "The city became a scene of activism and progressivism" some copyediting would help.
- Use a non breaking space: between a unit and its figure. 60 °C. For sub-zero temperatures use − instead of a hyphen.
- Yahoo weather would be having the extreme temperatures for the city. Would be good if it could be included.
- In =Education= remove the list. It should be made prose.
- Similary in =Economy, the list should not be there
- =Media= does not come under culture, under infrastructure would be more appropriate.
- The =sister cities= is currently too short to merit a top level section. Expand it or merge with culture.
- "The Ann Arbor Campus of the University of Michigan" template. Does it belong here?
- Are there any courts in AA?

- Primary occupation of residents. It is mostly an educational city?
- Its not mentioned, but I'm guessing, cars are the primary mode of transport?
- 28 miles --> metric equiv needed.
- Public transportation is provided by the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority (AATA), known locally as "The Ride." The authority operates bus lines...' Modify to: "the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority (AATA), known locally as "The Ride", operates bus services ..."
- you've missed out train services. (I did a google search, and it has a neat history)

- I did a little tweaking right now, and I'll try to do a few other things later. (By the way, please feel free to revert changes that you don't like!) Looking over it again, the "Events" and "Media" sections seem like not much more than lists, in that (unlike other sections) they don't contain much local flavor beyond a bunch of names -- kind of dull. - I fear that my addition to the City Government section may be a bit redundant with part of the History section (the HRP stuff, that is). However, it seems relevant in both sections. Suggestions? Also, in the City Government section: where it says "the city of Ann Arbor is in the 53rd district, while northeastern Ann Arbor and Ann Arbor Township are in the 52nd district," should that read "most of the city of Ann Arbor," or by "northeastern Ann Arbor" do you mean an area that isn't part of the city proper? - Currently, I am working on the article during the late afternoons and early evening. As for requirements, there is none that I can think of, though each contributor is encouraged to vote on the article if they wish. Pentawing - I think the recent changes by user 68.42.64.186 to the Ann Arbor media section are kind of sloppy. Can we go ahead and revert, or should we try to incorporate some of that info in a more polished format? I just left my "support" vote for Ann Arbor but I feel one image is a bit distracting, as you will read in my comments. I was going to get some images of all the "landmarks" from around town tomorrow and they should look pretty good, especially with all the students around, and I was wondering if you had any thoughts against replacing Image:Annarbor_southU_winter.jpg with one or two better images even though the article is in the final processes of evaluation. I wish I could've helped a bit more with the article, but Wikipedia is a hobby I enjoy but don't spend too much time with, but I've been following your progress over the last few weeks and you did a great job. Hey Pentawing, I just added a few paragraphs to the article and have added two new pictures, because I thought that the aerial of the high school didn't make a good lead picture. Anyway, can you read through the article and edit what I wrote for phrasing, grammar, spelling, etc. Also, can you please make sure that the same thing I just added isn't repeated elsewhere in the article. I want a second pair of eyes to check through it. Also, tell me what you think of my additions. I'm actually thinking of getting it protected just for the days it will be on the front page, and then getting off protection since I know it'll be vandalized a lot!!! Then, after its off the front page, have the protection removed. Can the person who asked for protection still edit it while under protection (like, in case there's a typo we missed).
