[edit] Tots TV vandal
I've blocked the latest incarnation of the vandal, forcing him to find yet another IP. As an extra step this time I have also semi-protected his two favorite targets, Tots TV and Rainbow (television). The good news is this should stop him cold. The bad news is that pages cannot remain semi-protected forever. I'm thinking of leaving them protected for 3-4 days, and then unprotecting them. If he immediately returns, I'll repeat. I'm hopeing that being blocked from his targets may encourage him to move on once and for all. We shall see. - TexasAndroid 16:36, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
I hope it does stop him or her though Ive a feeling its a him. Penrithguy 16:59, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
- I've undone the semi-protection on Tots TV and Rainbow (television). While the protection test was a success (no edits at all during the time protected), pages generally cannot remain protected or semi-protected indefinitely. The ToTs TV vandal did strike at least once during the blocked time, and he just rampaged on other pages.
- Given that he only attacked each page once, or maybe twice a day, I'm inclined to say we all should just continue to revert him on sight. His edits are fairly obvious, as he makes the same changes every time. If he strikes again, feel free to drop a message on my talk page and I'll give him a short block when I see the message. I've yet to see him return to an IP once blocked, so short (24 hours) blocks appear to generally stop him for the day. Also feel free to list him at WP:AIV, again asking for a short block. If you list it up there, give a description something like "ToTs TV returning, IP hopping vandal need short block to force him to seek new IP/stop for the day". This will hopefully let the responding admin know there's little point in warning him, as he's seen and ignored plenty of warning on his old IPs. - TexasAndroid 19:47, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Stagecoach in Manchester
Can I thank you for starting this page - I've been unsure whether or not it was worthy of its own page, and I've been pretty unsure on what to put on it. :) -- 9cds(talk) 17:00, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Thats no probelm the reason I did it was because the North West and Manchester disivisions are run seperatly Penrithguy 17:39, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Choosing admins
Hi PenrithGuy, I saw your comments to FelixCheng about his wish to become an admin. I agree that there is approximately a zero chance that he could become one. However your statement that because you're not an admin you don't have any influence over how admins are chosen isn't quite right. The admin selection debates are open to you and any all other registered Wikipedia users. We welcome your input on who should be made an admin; its definitely not the current admins alone who decide that.
By the way, thanks for all your help with Felix. I've been trying to work with him for several weeks now. He seems to go through periods of very strange behavior. However his intentions are basically good and he has added some work of value, so I'm reluctant to block him again. Still, it can be tiring cleaning up some of his more enthusiastic edits... [edit] Cumbria articles
Hi - I hope this finds you well! Just to say thanks for correcting me on various issues the Carlisle Airport article - there's only so much you can do via web reserach! Can I ask a favour, and that you check out the Crosby-on-Eden article in a similar effort? Thanx! And at some point in time, I will get a picture of a lorry for the Eddie Stobart article. Best Rgds, - Trident13 14:18, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- Hi I have tidied up the Crosby on Eden article and added a little bit of info though I do not know the village very well if indeed at all. But just want to say I have never heard of Carlisle Airport (which is really regarded locally as a bit of a joke and white elephant) as being called Lake District Airport. Penrithguy 17:28, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
-
- Thanx - much better! And as a Private Pilot, I can confirm that Carlisle Airport is currently both horrible, as well as a joke - in many, many aspects, not least the landing fee's. Mind you, the free tea is pretty good - and it needs to be! Rgds, - Trident13 18:16, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Kendal=South Lakeland and Westmorland=Eden ?
I notice you added an edit to Westmorland implying that the modern division between South Lakeland and Eden is the same as the old barony border? I wonder if you know how closely this corresponds. I tried working it out but got rather stuck. Morwen - Talk 16:05, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- I didnt mean that is the exact same border but it will be roughly very similar as South Lakeland comprises the parishes that were in the Kendal and Lonsdale wards give or take a few boundary changes in the 20th century. Penrithguy 19:10, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi Penrith Guy. I agree with your comment and have nominated both Ballensworth, Duke of and Duke of Ballensworth for deletion. Verica Atrebatum 10:39, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] W.V. Awdry
Hi,
I noticed you corrected a link to Wilbert Vere Awdry on the Tidmouth page. I'd just like to point out that the article is actually at W.V. Awdry, 'Wilbert Vere Awdry' is a redirect page. It is only a small point but thought it might help. Also 'the' goes outside the link to Rev. W. Awdry rather than inside! (e.g. the Rev. W. Awdry).
Best wishes,
Mdcollins1984 14:19, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Shoprite
On the Shoprite page you changed Shoprite Isle of Man, to say that it was former company. This is not true, Shoprite on the Isle of Man still exists however it's UK based operation is defunct. I've changed, but just letting you know! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rigard (talk • contribs) 18:00, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Appleby in Westmorland
Thanks for checking the update I'd made to this page. I'd wikilinked "Municipal Borough" but you then pointed out that "Words/phrases dont need wikilinking every time they are mentioned". I hadn't noticed the existing link on the previous line! (Northernhenge (talk) 20:40, 6 January 2008 (UTC))
- Kirkby Thore. If I get some time, I'll have a longer look at the Appleby in Westmorland page as it still needs quite a bit of work. I should also read the Martin Holdgate book. Northernhenge (talk) 00:17, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Applethwaite - help!
I stumbled on this article, and it's been so thoroughly messed with that I don't know what's true, or what's hoax. I couldn't even begin to clean it up; but you look like you're pretty good with Cumbrian topics, so I thought I'd ask your help. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:41, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Cumbria/Cumberland
I think was forgetting that Cumbria included the old Westmorland and parts of Lancashire as well, and seeing it as a more of a name change than anything else - particularly as Cumberland hadn't been added to {{High Shrievalties}}. It's always an idea to fully expain deletions on the talk page though - I misunderstood the import of your edit summary. If you look at High Sheriff of Cheshire you will see that I've found the London Gazette announcment for sheriffs for virtually every year back to 1840 (plus the one for 1834). All you need to do is copy the details of the reference from the Cheshire page, and copy the name from the Gazette (assuming you can open pdfs). David Underdown (talk) 13:25, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
