[edit] MySpace
Please do not add commercial links (or links to your own private websites) to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links to the encyclopedia. See the welcome page to learn more. Thanks. └ UkPaolo/talk┐ 13:25, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hello, UkPaolo. I'm not just adding commercial links. I created that entire section, and it is informative and many people find it valuable information. I don't appreciate you deleting it, and the users of wikipedia don't appreciate it. The purpose of a wiki is so people can add and share information, not so you can dictate what is allowed and what isn't. —Preceding unsigned comment added by PencilSharpener (talk • contribs)
- No... the purpose of Wikipedia is to be an encyclopedia. The paragraph which you have just re-added is already included earlier on in the article (it doesn't belong where you've placed it, since that is in the "criticism" section). I have no problem with the the majority of the paragraph, but Wikipedia is not the place to include links to commercial providers such as those that you cite: whether or not some people may find that useful. The article is not intended to provide "useful information about MySpace", it is intended to be an encyclopedic entry. Since you seem to be quoting me what Wikipedia users do and don't appreciate, why not gain consensus for adding those links on the article's talk page? └ UkPaolo/talk┐ 13:51, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
====Regarding edits made during May 23, 2006 (UTC)==== Adding unrelated external links to articles is considered vandalism. If you continue to use Wikipedia for advertising, you will be blocked from editing. If this is an IP address, and it is shared by multiple users, ignore this warning if you were not the one who added spam links. (ESkog)(Talk) 08:02, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
