I haven't listed the events in the modern athletics pentathlon, as I haven't found a definitive source that lists them (i.e. I can't find it on the IOC's website). Some biographies of Thorpe on the web suggest that it was the same as the ancient Pentathlon, except with a 1500m sprint replacing the wrestling. Note that some websites written by professionals (such as the BBC, who I've emailed about it) have repeatedly confused this track and field pentathlon with the modern pentathlon. Pentathlon is an event for women during the indoor season. See [1]. The events are 60 m hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump and 800 metres. This event has nothing to do with modern pentathlon. Punkmorten 20:53, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
OK, I see that it's called women's pentathlon here. Punkmorten 20:55, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure we can safely say that pentathlon and modern pentathlon are different. Davidbod 20:13, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Can someone please fix the first sentence of this article? I have no idea what it means. 72.79.199.205 (talk) 23:54, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Someone deleted all of this article. Does anyone know how to fix it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by GeekyTwin (talk • contribs) 23:59, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
