Talk:Pen-y-Pass

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This short article claimed P-y-G hotel as a training base for George Mallory's expeditions to Everest (these would have been in 1922/24 period. The P-y-G hotel claims only that Mallory visited the hotel with his wife in 1914. It is the successful 1953 expedition that is commemorated in the Everest room at that hotel. I have changed the article accordingly. If anyone should have better information please discuss. NoelWalley 16:17, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

There is documentary, photographic, and exhibition evidence for Everest (1953) and Kangchenjunga (1955) (which everybody forgets the latter to their cost) at Pen-y-Gwryd, Noel Odell also, but at this time no Mallory evidence as that would have been Arthur Lockwoods day (from the dates above) and precedes Chris Briggs ownership of Pen-y-Gwryd which was tho hotel's most illustrious period. I agree with Noel on this one. (Gowron 20:48, 9 November 2006 (UTC))
