PCNAK, or Pentecostal Conference of North American Keralites is an annual large-scale gathering of Keralite people of the Christian Pentecostal Faith. It serves to edify ourselves with Christ, build/renew friendships, and simply a fellowship of peoples of a similar nature. PCNAK began in 1983 at Oklahoma City, with humble beginnings with approximate attendance at 300. Over two decades later PCNAK has become an enormous event that is highly anticipated by the Malayalee (people of Kerala) Pentecostal Community nation-wide. The malayalee community mourns the recent losses of former national conveners Rev. Cherian Kothakeri (VA Beach 2004), Rev. Dr. John Daniel (Houston 1998, Orlando 2007), and Rev. Dr. K.T. John (Michigan 1997). [1]
Rev. Thampy Mathew was elected as the new interim National Convener on February 16, 2008.
PCNAK announced that Rev. George Thomas, 2008 National Convener, passed on to glory on Feb. 1 at the age of 62 while visiting India with his wife Ponnamma. Pastor Thomas has been serving as the Convener of the 26th PCNAK while also serving as the Senior Pastor of Georgia Full Gospel Assembly, Atlanta, GA. He came to the Lord from an Orthodox background at the age of 23. He served the Lord faithfully and diligently and was imprisoned in Doha,Qatar for preaching the gospel. He had also served as the Pastor of Doha Church of God and Zion Pentecostal Assembly, Connecticut. He is survived by his wife Ponnamma, children Aby and family and Ciby and family. We request you to be in Prayer for his family, church and the malayalee community.
Musical artists such as SonicFlood (Orlando 2007), Shane & Shane (Dallas 2006), and Darrell Evans (NY 2005) have appeared at PCNAK conferences. Malayalam and English Worship at each session is led by regional choirs from around the country. Musical artists from within the malayalee community have also performed at PCNAK, including NDIA, Jason James, Jason Joseph, Siby Varghese, Zoa, Called Out, and SydeTrak among many other groups. Zack Cherian, worship leader at Cornerstone Church (Pastor John Hagee), led worship at Dallas '06.
PCNAK Youth is PCNAK's division with a focus on grabbing the attention of the Malayalee Pentecostal Youth by creating an atmosphere and highly appealing schedule. Notably for athletes of this community, PCNAK offers a Sports Day Tournament which includes Adult Basketball, U-19 Basketball, Men/Womans Volleyball, and other sports based on priorly expressed interest of the community. I know we are listing basketball tournament winners on a Keralite Christian page, but it is because we're all small and will never make the NBA. We think we're ballers. PCNAK 2007 was held in Orlando, FL and the following teams won the various tournaments of the annual Sports Day: -Adult Basketball: Oklahoma Flight; -U-19 Basketball: Tennessee Rajahz; -Women's Volleyball: Detroit Riot; -Men's Volleyball: Oklahoma/Dallas
