The Pensacola Lightning is a minor league American football team in the North American Football League (NAFL). The Lightning franchise is located in Pensacola, Florida.

[edit] 2004 season

In their first season they went undefeated and shared the division championship with the Central Alabama Renegades. The two teams were both undefeated until the fifth week of the season, when the Lightning went to Prattville and beat the Renegades by a score of 33 to 32 to secure first place in the Gulf Division. The last game of the season was interrupted by Hurricane Ivan, which came ashore in the neighboring beach city of Gulf Shores on the Gulf of Mexico. The interrupted game was to be against the Central Alabama Renegades. Since the Lightning won in their earlier matchup, the NAFL decided to give the Gulf Division title to the Lightning, who instead chose to share the title.

The Lightning advanced to the playoffs and were subsequently defeated in the second playoff round.

In their second season, the Lightning were again undefeated and Division Champions. They advanced to the playoffs and were eliminated in the third round.

The Lightning were crowned Division Champs for the 3rd straight year, and were eliminated in the first round of playoffs. Head Coach - Roosevelt Patterson

In 2007 the Lightning moved to Pensacola, Florida and compiled a 10-3 Season under first year coach Mike Hall. The Lightning advanced to the Final 4 of the NAFL Championship and were defeated by Dallas. The Lightning was crowned the Souther Conference Champs, Head Coach Mike Hall was selected as Southern Conference Coach of the Year, & 7 Lightning players were awarded All-American honors.

Under new ownership the Pensacola Lightning looks to bring more wins to the Gulf Coast
