[edit] Route description

Route 546 begins at an intersection with Pennsylvania Route 346 in the borough of Duke Center. Route 546, better known as Oil Valley Road, heads northward, rounding around the bases of mountains and intersecting with local roads. The highway passes peaks that reach as high as 2,200 feet (670 m) just outside the mountainside borough. Route 546 continues northward, parallelling PA 646 through mountains before crossing into New York and continuing at Cattaugarus County Route 45, which heads north to Knapp Creek.

[edit] History

Route 546 was assigned in 1928, with construction still happening from north Duke Center to the border.[2] The construction was completed a year later. Route 546 was paved in 1930.[3]
