Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School

The Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School (PALCS) is a public (tuition-free) K-12 cyber charter school, approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and open to all students in the state of Pennsylvania.
The school provides students with a computer, printer, books and any other required materials. Teachers instruct by creating lessons on the school website which students complete by a specified deadline. Teachers also hold text-based chats and multimedia chats using webcams and VoIP.
Students have access to their assignments 24/7 and can work from any Internet-connected computer. Teachers have the flexibility to create their own curriculum while also using materials from major textbook publishers.

The PA Leadership Charter School’s purpose is to provide an academically challenging, knowledge-based curriculum, individually designed for each child’s needs. PALCS will combine the benefits of a classical basics oriented education with the latest Internet / computer technology and the best teaching and learning education practices. By studying the lives and works of the great leaders in history, PALCS students will develop multi-cultural perspectives and a global awareness. PALCS will prepare students to be informed, responsible citizens with a global mentality who will succeed through mentoring leadership.
PALCS runs a Performing Arts Center in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Students take classes in Dance, Theater, Photography, Music, Art, etc. at the site while completing their normal coursework at home.
PALCS also runs the University Scholars program in West Chester where gifted students receive on-site, personalized instruction from teachers.
PALCS also has a Leadership Center which uses experiential education methodology to teach character development programs and global language immersion programs in a blended cyber and face-to-face format.
The main PALCS office is located on Enterprise Drive in West Chester, Pennsylvania and the Western satellite office is located in Tarentum, Pennsylvania at the Pittsburgh Mills.
