Penelope is a character on Saturday Night Live played by Kristin Wiig.
She has red hair and always wears a red dress. She is always in a room with others and she brags about everything. Another character will mention something and Penelope will attempt to one-up their statement. For example:
"I have to go pick up my 7-year-old from Piano Recital"
"I have to pick up my 6-year-old from Piano. She's just a year younger, teachs piano, guitar, and spanish."
"How's your brother Tom doing?"
"Great, he just finished law school."
"I have a brother Tom too who is a lawyer. He's just a little bit better and a little older."
The other characters always get annoyed with her and try to avoid her. Eventually one character gets so annoyed that they make up a few lies and brag about them prompting Penelope to one-up all those lies and add a ridiculous lie which she always proves to be true in the end. For example:
-Penelope claims she can grow a beard anytime and then once everyone leaves, she grows one.
-Penelope claims she can be invisible and she turns invisible once everyone is gone.
-Penelope claims that she can shrink to 2 inches tall and does when the crowd has left.
