Pen Hadow (born Rupert Nigel Pendrill Hadow on the 26 February 1962) is a British polar explorer and author.
Hadow was educated at Harrow where he was Deputy Head of School and Head of House in The Park. While at Harrow, he reinstated the tradition of Long Ducker. This is a marathon-length run from Harrow-on-the-Hill to Marble Arch and back. The feat hadn't been completed in over 50 years.
In 2003 he became the first man to walk solo and unsupported the 478 miles from the northern coast of Canada to the North Pole[1].
In 2007 he announced he is returning to the Arctic ice cap to undertake a major survey of the thickness of the remaining ice to help scientists determine how long the polar ice cap will exist before it ceases to become a permanent feature on the planet[2].
