Pema Lhaki was the Tailor, a major character in Seven Years in Tibet, and a real person from Tibet. She was married to hiking guide Peter Aufschnaiter.
In Seven Years in Tibet (1997 film), Lhaki was played by Lhakpa Tsamchoe.[1] [2] [3] She is described as "lovely and exotic." [4] Both Heinrich Harrer and Aufschnaiter romanced Lhaki when they met her, but Harrer made several stupid and uninspiring attempts to woo her. Aufschnaiter and Lhaki were married in 1945 and bade goodbye to Harrer in 1951.[citation needed]
