Pei Yuanshao was a fictional Yellow Turban rebel in the historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Luo Guanzhong. After the Yellow Turbans were eventually defeated during the Yellow Turban Rebellion, Pei Yuanshao decided to become the leader of a gang of brigands. While Guan Yu at the time was in the possession of the Red Hare, Yuanshao attempted to steal it from him. But after he soon realized who its owner was, he immediately surrendered. Pei Yuanshao was the one who introduced one of his good friends, Zhou Cang to Guan Yu.
