Just realised we've never actually MSN'd. You've sworn against IRC, but do you plan to ever get on the other one? It's Microsoft so you know it's good! dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 08:12, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

The problem is I often edit from work (where I am now!) and therefore can't get MSN past the firewall (hence my dell laptop that's a company one). When I'm at home (I work part time as I also have my own business - I just do some contracting to pay the mortgage and feed SonOfPedro !) I can use it, but when I'm at home I'm to busy with business to ever get on it. I'm pants. Pedro :  Chat  09:02, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
...you're too busy with pants-related things to get on MSN? Now I understand fully. dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 09:15, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Re Billinghay Vandalism

Hi Pedro!

Thanks for your message. Is there any way I can get the comments about the Lafford High School removed, and prevent DinosaursLoveExistence from adding new ones. I have removed comments which I consider to be derogatory and unnecessary before, but DLE simply added new ones.

The school have contacted me about this, having seen I am a member here, and have requested I take action. What can I do? I see other people have made comments about the editing DLE does, and whether or not there is any factual evidence to corroborate his inferences.

Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by RIrvine6204 (talkcontribs) 13:00, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

My RfB

I wanted to personally thank you, Pedro, for your participation in my recent RfB. I especially wanted to tank you for taking the time to clearly articulate your concerns, allowing me to better understand the community's desire in this case. I have heard the community's voice that they require more of a presence at RfA's of prospective bureaucrats, and I will do my best over the near future to demonstrate such a presence and allow the community to see my philosophy and practices in action. I am thankful and appreciative that in general, the community feels that I am worthy of the trust it requires of its bureaucrats, and I hope to continue to behave in a way that maintains your trust in me and my actions. I hope that over the near future, you will become comfortable and satisfied with my understanding of the particulars and subtleties inherent in the RfA process, and that I may be able to count on your support when I decide to once again undergo an RfB. If you have any suggestions, comments, or constructive criticisms, please let me know via talkpage or e-mail. Thank you again. -- Avi (talk) 17:20, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Biruitorul 2

Only because this is something I feel strongly about (being Romanian myself), I'm just wondering you if you noticed Mikka's oppose. It kinda points to the issue you had when you struck your oppose. Cheers, dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 00:11, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

On my watchlist. I've indented my oppose but not made any other comment. Broadly, I'm nervous, but I want to see some other input first. I'm no expert on the articles he edits so I can't be certain if there is a likely outcome of "over use" (read possible abuse) of admin tools should the candidate be sysopped. I'm not ignoring the issue, but I'd like to see some more discussion before I decide where I am on this one. Pedro :  Chat  00:17, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Sure thing, I wouldn't expect anything less from you, and that's why I keep telling you you'll be the best 'crat I've seen. I can't claim expertise in these articles either, but I think I know a bit about the general issues...certainly (dare I say it) more than at least some of the other commentators at this RfA. That's one of the things that makes it a sticky issue. Anyway, if, as Mikka says, he's willing to promise to not use the tools in those areas (deliberately broad), then I really don't have that much of an issue with his being sysopped. But that's just my 2c. dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 00:27, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Request for Rollback

Hi Pedro, Thanks for approving my request for Rollback! It's much appreciated. Loopla (talk) 11:36, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

comments on a comment

In Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Biruitorul 2 you commented below User:Deacon of Pndapetzim. If your comment did not have anything with him, I am sorry for bothering you in vain. If it had, you might be interested in my comments here, and here[1]. thank you. Dc76\talk 15:55, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

I have a great deal of respect for your honesty in that comment. A great deal. However I made my (now struck out) comment based on my personal research in this instance. Again, my respect for your honesty and clarity. Pedro :  Chat  19:57, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Thank you. Look, I am not trying to convince you to "vote" somehow. And the reason is much more down to earth: there are already 20+ votes against, so it won't help. The bureaucrats look for consensus... But I hope that in the future you would see Biru's activity. Interaction with him (and others, too, but with him in the first place, by far-far) has improved the quality of my edits a lot. I can search for some diffs of my edits from 2+ years ago (as an IP address): you should compare, it speaks for itself. Anyway, it was nice meeting you. cheers. Dc76\talk 20:46, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
In effect I have not yet commented on this RfA one way or the other. I probably will do before closure and thank you for your input. Regarding "bureaucrats look for consensus..... yep I kind of knew that bit (see the top of this talk page anf the RfB message box)! :) Best Wishes. Pedro :  Chat  20:50, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Can, i please ask you to monitor the new User:AtomAtom. I suspect very close ties to User:Bonaparte. That's what hurt Biruitorul most of all: some (post-)Soviet admins remember that Bonaparte was a Romanian, too. How can Biruitorul "repair" his ethnic origin...(rhetoric) I am afraid some won't accept anything less.20:54, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Req for un-deletion of a Wiki New entry

I am a new user on wikipedia and the first Article I created was deleted was you. I had read all the rules and regulations before creating the article and had even posted a comment in the Talk Box as required by Wikipedia. I hope the page can be un-deleted or I be given chance to again create it (although it took me at least 1 hour to create it). --Sainik1 (talk) 23:01, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

How much is air freight for a pack of cigs?

Thanks, Pedro, for understanding my concerns and acting. I'm not here to sway your vote, but I am truly shocked at how Dan's RfA is going based on our extensive coaching. No questions? Archtransit allusions? Shit. Has this place changed that quickly as to what an admin candidate needs because of that arse? I need a toke. Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 15:58, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Coffin Nails.
Coffin Nails.
No probs. I agree that some more consideration is needed here. It's not like the candidate has done anything "wrong" as such. I'll tease my brain for some good questions, let's see if we can help proove to the community he's a goodun. Meantime, some torture ...... :) Pedro :  Chat  16:21, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
Ok, that's just mean. I can friggin taste those. Would it be considered inappropriate to lick my computer screen?  :-). Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 16:25, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
That's a nasty image :) Pedro :  Chat  16:29, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
A nasty image as payment for nasty image. Eye for an eye. Seems appropriate. My screen is really static-y, and tastes like glass. Text on the right side is now blurry. How disappointing. Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 16:32, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
At least you didn't apply a lighter to it! He! I've asked some Q's which I think are pretty mean but hopefully the candidate will rise to the occasion. It's only right to give him a fair chance, and he has asked for some questions to demonstrate his understanding. Let's see! Pedro :  Chat  16:37, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

I have to say, your reversal is not at all what I expected, but your rationale and your thoughtfulness, once again, has boosted my respect for you, even though you're a smoker. Booo! evil pedro!!!. That said, if it weren't 3pm in my world, I'd probably be drinking right now, at the very least...Cheers Pedro, Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 20:29, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Well, I think the candidate is, on balance, ready, and I think I should have asked those questions before my initial oppose. That was wrong of me. And it's 9:12pm here and I'm on my second glass of red ! Yeah! Pedro :  Chat  21:11, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
So, you get both? Not at all fair. Of course, I'll be living it up long after you're asleep...and you'll be awake and going back to work long before I need to crawl out of bed. So, nevermind, I guess all's fair. Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 21:14, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
When I learn to type I run for RfB. [2] Second glass of vino plonko obviously not so helpful to the fingers ...... :) Pedro :  Chat

Banning a user from modifying article

A user with ip 125.20.8.170 has been messing with my article:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Sainik1/J3HaaD

I request him to ban him from doing it.

Also, I have modified my article and hope to move it back to the main encyclopedia as soon as possible. I thank you for restoring my article. --Sainik1 (talk) 18:13, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

The IP has been warned. If he comes back with repeated bad edits then please warn them again, and report to WP:AIV if it is repeated. This can result in the IP being blocked for a while.Pedro :  Chat  19:09, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Moderating edits to a page

I apologise for disturbing you again but I just wanted to ask if I can create an article which requires the creator's permission for accepting modifications to it?? Or is it that I will have to undo changes every-time some-one soils the article? I sincerely thank you for entertaining my doubts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sainik1 (talkcontribs) 20:20, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi, and do not be concerned about "disturbing me". I am here to help! Short answer to your question: No. Long answer: Yes, but not on Wikipedia! The whole nature of a wiki is that is collaborative. Whilst other wiki's have their own rules, on Wikipedia the guideline is that anyone can edit. Remember that if you created an article and someone else changed it they may well be helping to improve it. You might also like to read WP:OWN as a guideline to help. Cheers! Pedro :  Chat  20:25, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Would like your input here

Take a quick look at this AfD discussion [3] - and let me know if you think the nominator is behaving inappropriately, or if I overstepped any boundaries with my comments. Thanks Pedro. Wisdom89 (T / C) 21:47, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, give me the easy ones why don't you :) I'll review for you matey. Pedro :  Chat  22:08, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
I don't think you were out of line, and I do think there was some "borderline" canvassing which you were certainly righ tto point out at the AFD. However I'd strongly recommend not using WP:POINT as a blue link too much. It gets people backs up, and is used waaaayyyyyy to often round here. The point of point (!) is aimed at people who are disrupting Wikipedia. Getting snarky or angry in a heated discussion is normal round here. It's not really disruption. Pedro :  Chat  08:19, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Rollback

I'm finding that this works quite nicely. It's a time-saver. Just one click, and vandalism is reverted. Sometimes I can even beat the vandalism-seeking bots to the draw. :) Gracias otra vez. :) Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 01:57, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

C & C Market Research

I had posted to the talk page, too, but after the article was gone, so I gave up and put a {{db-talk}} on i and now it's gone. Could you restore that, too, please? Thanks! - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 13:14, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

I really tried to edit for the enemy on this one, but gave up after finding nothing but mall directoy listings and other marketing research firms listing each other. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 13:45, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Rollback and User:KaragouniS

Hello, just a courtesy notification that I've de-rollbacked User:KaragouniS, who you gave the bit the other day, as I caught him misusing it in a rather nasty longterm revert war on an article he evidently has serious ownership problems. Fut.Perf. 14:14, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Chances of passing an RfA?

Hello Pedro.
I am hoping you can give me some advice.
I was nominated for an RfA two weeks ago. I failed on the grounds that I had too little experience in non-vandalfighting areas.
Since then, I have not really changed my editing patterns. However, I have done a lot of vandal fighting since then.
This is a fairly hard-to-read text version of my wannabe kate summary at the start of my failed RfA
Here is my wannabe kate summary now.
Someone asked me today if they could nominate me for admin. I told them I would have to ask some experienced users what they thought about me trying again so soon after failing an RfA.
Based on what I have done in the interval, do you think there is any chance that I would pass an RfA? J.delanoygabsadds 16:47, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

I think the other editors you approached have summed it up. Way to soon. Give it another 8-10 weeks and try to demonstrate your capabilities by working in areas like WP:XFD and WP:HELPDESK. And don't forget to try and write some content too! Pedro :  Chat  18:27, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Moving article to the main encyclopedia

As required by Wikipedia, I have made changes to my article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Sainik1/J3HaaD And made a few additions to it. I hope that now it can be moved from my subpage to the main encyclopedia. If any discrepancies still remain, I request you to point out the same.

In case of any vandalism or extremity, I'll surely remove the same as soon as is possible for me. --Sainik1 (talk) 22:18, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi Sainik1. Two problems. It's a well written descriptive piece which is fine. However 1) You need some third party reliable sources that give independent coverage of the team. Googling them (not an ideal measure but gives an initial idea of wether there are thirdy party sources) returns just the hits for Wikipedia. 2) There is no evidence as to why the team is notable. Just existing is not notable. Please read those two policies to see if you can fulfill them. If not then the article would be deleted again I think. Pedro :  Chat  07:58, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Re: Deletion of numerous G6 talk pages

I have a subpage in my user space (/CSD) that I've been working on a bit. It lists some of the tools and tricks you can use to find speedy-able maintenance work. Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers. --MZMcBride (talk) 01:49, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

RfA - Toddst1

Hi, Pedro, thanks for supporting my RfA, which passed with 42 supports, 0 opposes, and 0 neutrals. I'm pleased that the Wikipedia community has trusted me with the mop. Of course, special thanks goes to my nominator, Kakofonous. Please let me know if you need help, or just want to say hello. Cheers! Toddst1 (talk) 15:14, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of Daniel Boey

Hi Pedro,

Could you inform me why you deleted the article I wrote on Daniel Boey? If it was due to the picture I submitted, I tried to attach the proper tag to the picture for usage on Wikipedia.

Thanks. Succisa75 (talk) 19:01, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Zedla RfA

Sorry for the delay but just want to drop a quick note saying thanks for participating in my RfA which closed and passed earlier this week. I think I understand many of the comments about approaching the admin position with a breadth of experience. It's something I hope to be spending time on and hopefully I can earn your trust as an admin in the future. If you have any comments I'm always open to the counsel of others.
