[edit] POV concerns
This article is well-written and well-sourced, but there are some POV concerns I have. This concerns the issue of del Valle's anti-Semitism. Obviously, this is a subject that leads to lots of problems at Wikipedia. It's important to include the information, but we need to be doubly-careful to source all information in the "Later years" section.
The article mentions that del Valle's organizations and associations were criticised as anti-Semite, but it never says he himself was. But he certainly was, and the article should say that. For instance, following the link for footnote 9, I see than ITT's Washington representative labeled him anti-Semitic. He wrote a letter of support to Conde McGinley, and he described the Truman administration as "completely in the power of the Zionist-Marxist minority".
He was also criticised not just for anti-Semitism, but also for his other far-Right views. For instance, he said:
- Treason is everywhere about us and I do not believe that we have any chance unless some strong military person is able to seize power by means of a "coup d'etat" and take the Communist bull by the horns right at home.
He also was close to Junio Valerio Borghese, an Italian-fascist war-criminal, and was friends with (and gave money to) George Lincoln Rockwell, head of the American Nazi Party.
Perhaps this should be included in a "Controversial beliefs" section? The article certainly isn't complete without this information. – Quadell (talk) (bounties) 15:16, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
- I just wanted to touch the basics because you know how it is, people may let their passions get the better part of them and start to attack the intergerity of the article. I have seen many good articles that have been affected with continuous copyediting and reverts. Tony the Marine
[edit] GA Sweeps (on hold)
This article has been reviewed as part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles/Project quality task force in an effort to ensure all listed Good articles continue to meet the Good article criteria. Since this article was awarded GA status in 2006, the GA criteria have changed significantly. In reviewing the article, I have found there are some issues that may need to be addressed.
Specifically, the referencing criterion has been tightened up. As a rule of thumb, all GAs now require (as a minimum) a reference at the end of each paragraph that covers the general content of that paragraph, and additional in-line citations where necessary for sentences that need them (such as quotations, controversial or challengable statements etc). Pedro del Valle has significant gaps in its referencing and does not meet this criteria.
I will check back in no less than seven days (around 24th October). If progress is being made and issues are addressed, the article will remain listed as a Good article. Otherwise, it may be delisted (such a decision may be challenged through WP:GAR). If improved after it has been delisted, it may be nominated at WP:GAN. Feel free to drop a message on my talk page if you have any questions, and many thanks for all the hard work that has gone into this article thus far.
