Pedalanka is a small village that belongs to Repalle Taluq in Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh, India. It is chiefly an agriculture-based society. The main crops grown are banana, sugar cane, and red chili. In the 1970s, mangoes were mainly grown, but they were later replaced by sugar cane. In the 1940s and 1950s Pedalanka had just a shiva temple and a primary school (which was initially an elementary school). The school had up to 8 grades and anybody who graduated could start teaching. There was an episode of flash flooding in the 1950s from the Krishna River that was adjacent to the village. Many people lost their land and crop. Consequently more than half the village emigrated.
