What the heck? Why is there an entire page here to tell you that you should go to The Man Who Would Be King for more information?
I'm going to advise one of three options here:
1.) Merge with TMWWBK 2.) Delete 3.) Expand --Superluser 16:57, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
- This page was created some time ago (as were a number of others) due to a request at the talkpage of the CATEGORY "Fictional Freemasons", for that category to be populated. The page TMWWBK cannot be added to that category, even though the play's two main characters are both extremely well known fictional freemasons - indeed the entire plot revolves around that very fact. Instead of "What the heck"-ing, try WP:AGF! Most things are here for a good reason - even if you can propose a better solution in the long term. So, feel free to delete this page if you feel the need - though if so, you might give some consideration to the original request, and maybe do the research to start a new page giving a "List of Fictional Freemasons", in which case the category could be abandoned, as Wikipedia would have the information in another location. - I don't particularly feel the need to delete (had I, I would have just put the article up for deletion); I was just wondering what the rationale was, since there was no mention of the it on the talk page. I assumed that there was a reason, and I assumed good faith but I couldn't for the life of me figure out what that reason was.

- I figured it had something to do with categories. What if we put a redirect here and added a category to the redirect page? Quoting WP:R on the subject, "In some cases, however, adding categories to a redirect page allows legitimate alternative titles or names to be found in category lists." Sounds like a prime candidate for this sort of action.

- I notice that you had some trouble adding the Category:Fictional Freemasons tag to Detective Sergeant Ben Jones. I have solved this problem for you. (remember, the category box will appear on the very bottom of the preview page).--Superluser 03:13, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks for doing that (Detective Sergeant Ben Jones) - it does indeed seem a very handy and appropriate solution. I certainly have no objection to the idea of doing the same thing to Peachey's page! Timothy Titus 03:27, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

- OK. Since this is an official discussion on merging, I don't want to make any changes until I've given everyone a chance to respond (and not just the two of us).
- Here's the plan, then. Not less than one week from today, I will review this discussion. If no one objects, I will change the Peachey Carnehan page into a redirect for TMWWBK, and include the category for fictional freemasons. I will leave the merge tag up on TMWWBK for one month from the date when I filed it--so that I can attract opinions on the issue. Then I will take the tag down.
- If anyone has a problem with this plan, you've got a week to let me know before I start moving on it. --Superluser 08:39, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

- Good plan, in my opinion! Timothy Titus 11:20, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
- OK. Redirect in place. I'm leaving the merge tags in place until June 27 in case anyone hasn't seen this and would still like to comment.--superlusertc 13:24, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Resolved. The page was turned into a simple redirect with a category so that Peachey shows up in the fictional freemasons category. Once again, if anyone wants to turn this into a full-blown article that's at least stub class in length, I wouldn't object. superlusertc 2007 June 27, 15:41 (UTC)
