Pearls of Passion was Roxette's first album, released on October 31, 1986. It was rereleased internationally on CD on October 31, 1997 with some previously unreleased or single-only bonus tracks. The album was originally only released in Scandinavia and Canada.
Failing to get any promotion outside Sweden, the album peaked at #2 on the Swedish albums chart but failed to chart elsewhere. However, it caused Roxette to gain confidence record the following worldwide smash Look Sharp album.
"Neverending Love", "Goodbye to You", "Soul Deep" and "I Call Your Name" were released as singles. "It Must Have Been Love" was later used (with the reference to Christmas changed to a neutral winter reference (It’s a hard Christmas Day was replaced with It’s a hard winter’s day)) in the movie Pretty Woman. "Soul Deep" reappeared on their album Joyride in 1991 and "So Far Away" was recorded again for Tourism in 1992.
The album was followed by a compilation of re-mixes of those same songs, titled Dance Passion.
