PEAQ
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
PEAQ (Perceptual Evaluation of Audio Quality) is a standard for objectively measuring sound quality, developed in 1999 by a joint venture between the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), OPTICOM, and several other companies. PEAQ was defined as the new ITU-R recommendation BS.1387 to provide a high-quality objective sound quality benchmark. OPTICOM as well as the Communications Research Centre, in Ottawa, Canada produce licensed products the utilize this standard. There is also a free cross-platform program run from the Terminal called Peaqb which accomplishes the same functions in an albeit limited manner.
