[edit] Fair use rationale for Peanuts

This image, PeanutsTimeMagazine.jpg, is being linked here; though the picture is subject to copyright I (Hiding Talk) feel it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

  1. No free alternative can exist given the likeness of the characters depicted in the Peanuts comic strip are copyrighted and subject to trademark and intellectual property laws;
  2. It is a low resolution copy of a magazine cover;
  3. It does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell the magazine in any way;
  4. Copies could not be used to make illegal copies of the magazine cover art on another magazine or in any other form;
  5. The image is significant; it is a measure of the reach and esteem the comic strip Peanuts has been held in'
  6. The magazine issue in question is noted within the article, within the context of demonstrating the critical acclaim the strip acquired.
