Pawnee Rock, one of the most famous and beautiful landmarks on the Santa Fe Trail, is located in Pawnee Rock State Park, just north of Pawnee Rock, Kansas, USA. Originally over 150 feet tall, railroad construction stripped it of some 15 to 20 feet in height for road bed material. Pawnee Rock was added to the National Register of Historic Places around 1970.
