Pavel Fedorovich Batitsky (June 27, 1910 - February 17, 1984) served as commander-in-chief of Soviet Air Defense from 1963 to 1978, and was appointed Marshal of the Soviet Union in 1968. He is often said to have executed in person (by a single shot) Lavrenty Beria in 1953 (Batitsky was Colonel-General and chief of Moscow Air Defence at the time).
