Hiya. Ive just created a new (and better, imo) userbox for soulseek and i thought is share it. you can look at it here. this new box allows you to share your soulseek username in the box itself. also, it adds your userpage to a category called "soulseek users". if you dont like the box but you want to be in the catergory just add [[Category: Soulseek users]]. anyhoo, just thought id let you know. -(chubbstar) — talk | contrib | 06:19, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Many thanks
Hey Pauric,
Many thanks for the comment. I really appreciate it. It is nice to hear that people appreciate the work I do. I've noticed you around a bit. It is great to see so many Irish people joining lately. When I came on here over 4 years ago WP's Irish pages were dreadful but there are so many good Irish users on now that they have shot way up in quality. I've spent most of the last two days working on one template about Irish republicanism. I'm a bit knackered at this stage with it.
Again, thanks for the compliments. If I can be of assistance to you in any way anytime, feel free to ask. FearÉIREANN\(caint) 23:58, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hello back
Indeed I'm from mighty South Derry as well....Ballinderry to be precise.
I went to the Convent in Magherafelt, finished there about a year ago.
What school did you go to yourself?

Sorry to bother you but just something i've notice on many articials and i know it's not just you but make sure you the intro of articials says Gaelic Athletic Association with a link instead of GAA or GAA as GAA means nothing to people who just happen on articials (Gnevin 23:55, 20 September 2006 (UTC))
[edit] Hunger Strike Infobox
Am I right in thinking that you made the Hungre Strikers INfobox?
If so, what would you think about adding an "Irish name" section to the box? (Derry Boi 20:49, 21 September 2006 (UTC))

Yeah sure no problem, but there is no articles on that page you linked me to. (Derry Boi 17:46, 5 October 2006 (UTC))
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Sean ocasey 1924.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Sean ocasey 1924.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Boxrec.com Page on the John Duddy issue
I am having problems with another user called Ozzwald35 on the Boxrec.com page here - I have done a section on why Boxrec.com lists Duddy as British but he keeps deleting it and has now broken the 3RR. Can you please look into it? Beaumontproject 14:01, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
Pauric---If I am out of line by adding this I apologize as I am new and do not know how to work the site and I'm just doing what I can to be heard, but I apologize if this is poor etiquette. As to the issue that Beaumontproject speaks of...I have already sent two e-mails to wiki administrators several hours ago about the issue. Please do look into it though if you have power to do something about it.
Beaumontproject continues to post criticism that is complete nonsense that he bases on an argument that he and another pal had from an internet message board which they now have a grudge against, which anyone with any research knowledge knows that a flame war from an internet message board is not a valid source.
Another editor and myself have tried several times to explain to Beaumontproject that an argument from an internet message board is not a valid source yet they continue to ignore that.
Being that you know the difference can you enlighten Beaumontproject that an arguement, or anything from an internet message board is not a valid source...he will not listen to me, or another editor about it, but since he has seeked your help then maybe you can let him know what is and what isn't a valid source!
Now the rules of the site state that editors should discuss and try to come to an agreement, but Beaumontproject and Vintagekits are only interested in posting the bogus criticism claim that got them banned from another site instead of listening to what we tried to tell them...that an argument from an internet message board is not a valid source and has no business being presented as fact. The page is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxrec.com which it is normal now as I deleted the criticism claim. Though I'm sure that we could probably use the stats for boxrec that is up on the Boxrec mediawiki page as it does what wiki does and describes the site...but it doesn't list any beef, which is what Beaumontproject wants to continue to post. As I said I sent two e-mails to wiki administrators several hours ago, but if you can do something a lot of people, including myself, would be grateful. Again, I apologize if I am contacting you in the wrong manner.
I would be glad to have an arbitration about the issue. --Ozzwald35 14:19, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Historical reference to City of Derry/Londonderry
Hi, sorry to drop this message onto your page but I'm trying to invoke a discussion on the WP:IMOS page as to what to use for the historical references to the city of Derry/Londonderry. I am trying to obtain a non-POV neutral discussion over what terminology to use for this or whether the IMOS as it stands should indeed cover this. Since you have been involved in discussions over Derry or County Londonderry and the likes in the past I thought you may like to get involved in the discussion. See the appropriate talk to get involved. Thank you for your time. Ben W Bell talk 16:27, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the help. I don't know that he should be on 'Irish Republicanism WikiProject' as it focuses on violent people and he felt he had the numbers (and the force of history) behind him. Thanks for uploading Image:Bobby Sands.jpeg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Francis_Hughes.jpeg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Francis_Hughes.jpeg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
[edit] Irish articles assessments
It seems that the assessment of Irish articles has fallen off the radar but recently Flowerpotman, Sarah777 and I have been doing a little work on this as well as actually classifying articles (actually Sarah has done the most work). Anyway, you are listed as a member of the WikiProject hence this post.
- The first thing that needs doing is to work on the WikiProject template. Actually there are two templates both of which get recorded by the assessment statistics bot that collects the ratings and creates the listings in the category Category:Ireland articles by quality. The two project templates are {{Irelandproj}} listed on the main project page and {{WikiProject Ireland}} listed on the assessment page—the first allows both quality and importance rating as well as nesting but no reviewer comments, while the second allows quality rating and comments but the importance does not seem to work and comments are not included. This needs to be fixed, so we use one that works fully—can you help?
- The next thing is to decide if we just let editors assess as they wish or to create some criteria or guidelines for rating the quality and importance of the Irish articles. Personally I am in favour of some guidelines—some will be easy to decide while others are a little more complex. What do you think?
- Some projects make lists of articles for assessment while other go after groups of articles by category. What should we do? A mixture of both by using a "To do list"?
- As of the last assessment statistics bot run on Sunday, August 20, only 1462 articles have been tagged, of which 1156 have been assessed for quality but 660 of these have no importance value.
- Besides these 1462 there must be hundreds more untagged articles that should be tagged when we get the template issue mentioned above fixed.
We are not bad in our assessments but some projects have all their articles assessed while others are lacking more than we are. We can really use a few active editors to bring assessments to the fore. Please reply on the assessment talk page as to what you can do. Please help out. ww2censor 17:20, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image source problem with Image:32csm.jpg
This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:32csm.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Volunteer
You agreed to the consensus made on the 'Volunteer' mediation discussion earlier this year here. However, some editors believe that a new consensus has been established where "IRA volunteer" is used without the initial mention of "IRA member". Although no discussion has taken place, they feel that because articles were changed from the format of "IRA member (volunteer)" to simply "IRA volunteer" and were not subsequently reverted for several months (until noticed by myself and another user), that this therefore establishes it as the new consensus and that the mediation ruling is now defunct. You can see discussions of this here, here, here. As a party involved in this discussion previously, your commentis valuable, and so it would be apprreciated if you could make any comment you might have here if you have one. Regards. [edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Pigdestroyer.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Pigdestroyer.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy.
