[edit] FPC Dandelion Macro

Hi Paul,

As you've probably noticed, your picture Image:Dandelion Macro.jpg didn't quite reach promotion to WP:FP, but it was an interesting nomination that clearly divided opinions. It is unusual for a nomination to flow back and forth so much.

Do you have a gallery of other images that would be worth considering? -- Solipsist 19:52, 28 July 2005 (UTC)

Sorry about my oppose vote. I think the dandelion itself was excellent. I look forward to seeing more of your photography! David D. 21:46, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
No problem. The background is an issue. Unfortunately, when I made this picture I didn't realised that it might be usefull for wikipedia. Anyway; I made a lot of other pictures (look below) and I have the intention to put on wikipedia and other sites (as free/libre). Nowdays, I am trying to look to many objects and think: "Hey! Picture of this, might help wikipedia". For example, I made this when I have seen a rusted screw; I said: "It would look very good on wikipedia" :) Paulnasca 20:11, 8 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Haystack

I hope you don't mind that I put your Romanian haystack up for criticism in featured picture. I really like that picture. One person has requested a more detailed caption to go with the picture. You can also see a more in-depth general comment on this issue at the under the heading Captions at the talk page for wikipedia featured pictures. Good luck. David D. 03:23, 29 July 2005 (UTC)

    • thanks for nominating this picture. I have many others pictures of hay (and other things) and I have intention to release many of them (I made over 15,000 pictures) to wikipedia or to creative commons. User:Paulnasca 18:21, 08 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Your Featured picture candidate has been promoted
Your nomination for featured picture status, Image:Romanian hay.jpg, gained a consensus of support, and has been promoted. If you would like to nominate another image, please do so at Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates. ~~~~

Congratulations on the Featured Picture, just so you know I promoted the image with only 71% of the votes but I did so because all the supports where in line with how it worked with the article which follows with featured picture policy's and the two opposes were about how boring it was so I decided to promote it, also I promoted the article that was listed on the original FPC and not one of the clipped versiosn because criteria states that it should be judged on how it relates to the article and the main version was the one on the article hay. Congrats again. Jtkiefer T | @ | C ----- 23:36, August 11, 2005 (UTC)

Congratulations on getting the featured picture status. Did you see the requests for more description? Two of your supporters had particularly constructive questions. Where in Romania was it taken? A technical question, can the caption provide more detail on the stack, does it represent the rippling method, the cock method, or some other method used by Romanian farmers. And I am curious if those poles sticking from the haystack are part of some internal basket that supports the hay. Do you have a answers to these questions? It would really add a lot to the picture if you add some of this information. Again, congratulations. David D. (Talk) 15:55, 12 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] distortion waveform

That's a pretty good image. It would probably be better if the original signal was simpler, with only three or so sinusoids, so it was more obvious. Maybe even a single sinusoid?

Also would probably look better if the distorted waveform was underneath the original one instead of next to it. — Omegatron 03:01, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

I like it. Good work. — Omegatron 22:28, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image vs Media

I noticed you linked to an image with the Media namespace, i.e. [[Media:Example.gif]] rather than [[Image:Example.gif]]. Please don't do that when you are talking about the image's metadata; it links directly to the image, not the image description page, and thereby makes it harder to find the image info. Also, while it was good that you explained the source for the image and the license, it would help if you also added the proper tag, i.e. {{GFDL}}, as otherwise it will likely get caught up by the image sourcing patrol, and just makes more work for everybody. I rescued it just before it would have been deleted, so this is important. Thanks for uploading the images you've done, it's great to have them. [edit] Pareidolia

Hi Paul Nasca.

Your pareidolia image, image:Pareidolia false wood.jpg, is nice an interesting, but at talk:Pareidolia it has been asked what it really shows, and I'd like to know that too. Is it a tabletop painted to resemble a certain kind of wood? Is it a printed table-cloth? Can you inform us about this, perhaps by improving the caption at Pareidolia or by elaborating on the info at image:Pareidolia false wood.jpg?--Niels Ø (noe) 08:47, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

I guess there is a kind of painted wood (because the same patterns repeats). If you wish, I can post a photo with larger view to see repetitions Paulnasca 18:18, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Screenshot betabasic 31.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Screenshot betabasic 31.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:05, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
