[edit] Childhood and Youth

He was born in 1946 in the capital city of Paraguay, Asunción.

This draftsman, sculptor and architect, he was a sculpture apprentice of Hermann Guggiari, for many, the highest exponent of paraguayan sculpture in the 20th century.

His long career as a craftsman lasted from 1966 to 1983.

1966 Participated in “Plástica Paraguaya”, contest organized by Centro Cultural Paraguayo Americano, CCPA, in the “John F. Kennedy” galery and in the first public sculpture auction, held in the centre.
1967 Prticipated in the IX Biennial of San Pablo.

Exposed pieces in Club Náutico San Bernardino. Exposition in the Paraguayan Red Cross. Illustrations of the poem anthology “B.A.M.” and sculpture exposition at the Cepro.

1968 Realization of the “Poetic Audiovisual”.

Participated in “Artistas Paraguayos”, an exposition in Club Concepción. Collective exposition in Centro Cultural de Villarrica Illustration and publication of the poems in the “Hoy” magazine and paintings, engraving and sculpture exposition in Goethe school.

1969 He had part in the collective exhibition in the public library of Ypacarai.

He participated of the exhibition “Artistas Paraguayos” in CCPA. Participated in “Arte 69” in the “Asociación Cristiana de Jóvenes”. Illustrated “Puente sobre el Tapecué”

1970 Individual exhibition in Galería Miró and grouped show in Casa Argentina
1972 Painting and sculpture show in the Filosophy school of Universidad Nacional de Asunción.

He had participation in “Escultura hoy” in Banco Central del Paraguay and a grouped exposition at CCPA.

Regarding the importance of his pieces Ticio Escobar, the most important art critique of Paraguay, 1983, wrote: “Today it is almost common to say that the 70’s began with some predominance of drawing and to point out that the Pindú’s exposition in Galería Miró as the beginning of this predominance…”

Livio Abramo, great engraving master, points out: “...Pindú is one of the most capable artists in Paraguay –being a lyric writer and dramatician simultaneously- he created architectonic structures of human symbolism transforming the la hermetic aggressiveness in his subconscious to a world in which his arte gives us unexpected and lyrical visions.

He was awarded, amongst other distinctions: “Mención de Honor” in “Concurso de Artes Plásticas del CCPA” (1966), “Segundo Premio” in Concurso de Cuentos organizaed by La Tribuna newspaper(1973); “Premio Invitado de Honor” in the II Biennial of Maldonado (Uruguay) (1977) y “Gran Premio” in III Bienal of Maldonado (1979)

The list is enormous and consists mainly in ink drawings and engravings. Most of his pieces have no title and are found in the most important museums of Paraguay and around the world in private collections.

As an architect, he participated house and tall buildings projects.

He died in Asunción in 1993.
