These are some of my thoughts regarding Wikipedia. Yes that means they are my thoughts and therefore do not represent anybody but me.
[edit] Good things
- Unlike some projects pre-dating Wikipedia (especially Linux like operating systems), Wikipedia is one the few examples of GPLicsencing that the completely non-technically inclined have heard of and to some extent understand.
- The mere fact that Wikipedia is not a huge mess of spam, porn and personal insults is damn good evidence that not only are there a large amount of sensible and mature people using the internet but that they outnumber the complete cocks who make it seem so bad at times.
[edit] Bad things
- Discussions being the same as articles doesn't work that well. If Wikipedia weren't so established in it's ways then a hybrid between a Wiki and a Discussion forum would be fantastic.
[edit] Just things
- No real explination is given about the wikipedia logo. What on earth is it supposed to be?
