I am a neuropsychologist based at the Institute of Psychiatry in London. My areas of expertise are motor neurone disease, neuropsychology, parkinson's disease, and the use of the internet for the benefit of people with chronic health conditions.
I am interested in getting more experts on to wikipedia but have encountered resistance and dare I say apathy from academics. One possible reason, anti-elitism, is outlined here.[1]. They're busy people and they can't see why they should spend several hours providing free content that will get them no credit on the RAE and can be wiped out by anyone with a keyboard and an opinion. I have no doubt that in the future, the RAE will take note of academics' contributions to wikis. I also work on an "internal" wiki at work, viewable here[2].

The Resilient Barnstar |
I just wanted to give a barnstar for being such a pleasure to work with. I'm been pretty critical of the Beck Depression Inventory article, but you've always been cheerful, and just get pecking away at making the article better. Kudos! Esprit15d (talk ¤ contribs) 14:41, 16 October 2006 (UTC) |
