[edit] Libel

If I were Paul Reubens I'd sue your asses for libel.

You've just completely undermined the entire website. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.196.215.49 (talk • contribs) 18:50, 25 May 2004 (UTC)

If you think there is something untrue in the article, please change it. What are your objections? RickK 19:07, 25 May 2004 (UTC)
Some people may find this "article" obscene, but my problem with it is mainly that it's not serious, it lacks the quality that is so characteristic of the site as a whole, it doesn't even begin to attempt to describe the person. (GdB) —Preceding unsigned comment added by GdB (talkcontribs) 01:57, 29 May 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Category:Star Wars actors?

I see someone has added this article to Category:Star Wars actors. How was Paul Reubens associated with Star Wars? Should this categorization be deleted? --Jeremy Butler 14:03, 3 September 2005 (UTC)

Hearing no justification for keeping it, I removed the category today. Jeremy Butler 12:57, 7 September 2005 (UTC)
He was the voice of "REX" on Star Tours. -Branddobbe 23:57, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
Star Tours?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.21.159.13 (talkcontribs) 02:17, 25 December 2005 (UTC)
Star Tours, though I hadn't heard anything about him voicing REX (the pilot droid) before Sherurcij (talk) (Terrorist Wikiproject) 13:00, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
Yep, I can confirm this. FranksValli 09:58, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Something's not right

The picture is DEFINITELT NOT the Pee-wee I know about! He went down the wrong road. --Angie Y. 01:10, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

I argee, I think that there should be another picture there instead of his mugshot, I mean some little kid looks up peewee looking for the happy guy on tv but find some creppy old man - 172.165.253.225 19:58, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
I uploaded a better picture of him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Azslande (talkcontribs) 17:03, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, I appreciate it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.33.164.220 (talk • contribs) 03:59, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
LOL, the mugshot is like a Ben Linusified version of John Petrucci. --nlitement [talk] 21:28, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Peekskill

just to point out that this article states paul reubens was born in peekskill, new york and then later his birthplace is given as peekskill, michigan. im from michigan and ive never heard of peeksill so it must by NY. Mikethezee 06:18, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

Didn't he also appear in an episode of Ally McBeal? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.191.249.6 (talk) 19:49, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Pee-Wee Herman

Pee-Wee Herman needs his own article.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.214.200.130 (talkcontribs) 00:10, June 19, 2006.

You're right. you are very right .(Glass of water 19:54, 9 July 2006 (UTC))
True.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 172.128.70.82 (talk • contribs) 01:21, July 14, 2006.
I assume you mean the character. That would make sense. It could give a history of what Pee-Wee's life was like, his adventures, etc. It would focus on the character/persona rather than Reubens's life. -Platypus Man | Talk 20:23, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
You are correct. (Glass of water 03:45, 16 July 2006 (UTC))
I agree. Wikipedia does serious biographies of fictional characters all the time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.223.223.204 (talk • contribs) 00:26, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
I agree as well. Pee-Wee is a character/show in his own right that was popular in its day--just as Paul Reubens is an actor who has done other things with his career besides Pee-Wee. They aren't one and the same.141.211.173.132 04:23, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

How has this still not happened? I agree that it should, but it would have to be pretty strange. For example, the Pee-wees from Pee-wee's Big Adventure, Big Top Pee-wee, and Pee-wee's Playhouse all live in different places with completely different circles of friends. In Cheech and Chong's Next Movie Pee-wee seems to be a stand-up character created by the hotel valet (who says "I know you are but what am I?" even when he isn't portraying Pee-wee). Not to mention the numerous appearances Pee-wee has made in real life (particularly with David Letterman), in which he talks about making his movies as if he were an actor playing himself. How would we explain all this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.233.3.140 (talk) 11:13, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I knew it!

I KNEW Paul still got Pee-wee's voice! =D --Angie Y. 12:50, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sexuality?

This may seem like a bizarre question, but can anyone confirm or deny his orientation? NNDB and a few others have listed him as "bisexual," though I haven't seen a concrete source to back up such claims. I don't mind either way, but it may make for an inclusion in said category if true. --AWF —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.2.1.210 (talk • contribs) 08:43, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ernest

How does Pee Wee compare to Earnest? They are very similar, but the first Ernest came out in 87 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Themightyben (talkcontribs) 03:29, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Source of the name 'Pee-Wee Herman'

Jimmy Kimel Live had Reubens on. He mentioned the source of the name (a harmonica). I've added that to an openning paragraph, but the only cite I could find was a Vanity Fair article that also had the information. If the Kimel web site ever adds a transcript or something like that, it may make a better and more recent source. Fracture98 03:09, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

There are lots of images of the tiny harmonica (Google "Pee-wee harmonica" for images). I didn't bother uploading any since I have no copyright. I think such an image would make a nice addition to this article as it shows an interesting bit of trivia. Fracture98 03:14, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Arrests section

Why were the sections detailing his arrests removed? I was looking for information concerning his second arrest, and I know it used to be in this topic.Mrhammersmith 06:53, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Big Top Pee-wee

I just wondered about the fact that Big Top Pee Wee is not mentioned anywhere in this page. Does it not count for some reason?? Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.146.76.35 (talk • contribs) 16:41, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] You Don't Know Jack

Nowhere is it mentioned that Paul hosted the very short lived game show "You Don't Know Jack" under an alais I can't remember. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 12.167.22.178 (talk) 17:58, 5 February 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Vandalisim

I'm not sure where to put this, so here it will be. This article seems to have been heavily vandalised, especially in the section referring to his second arrest. Whoever wrote the vandalisation has added in statements they attribute to Rubens to the likes of "I have sex with children", whereas when one checks the refrence material this is not said, at all. Someone needs to clean this up or something. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.167.146.75 (talk • contribs) 22:26, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Resurgence

can we add something about this or comeback because hes been in alot lately and has more stuff coming out like the tripper hes been in several shows and a movie. i think his career is starting to come back. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.35.104.109 (talkcontribs) 00:02, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

Paul Reubens is currently featured in the 2007 television show "Pushing Daisies" (ABC) with a recurring role playing Oscar Vibenius, an olfactory expert. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.61.26.80 (talk) 05:05, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Nike Shoes

Can anyone verify that these shoes actually exist? Every piece of information I found about these traces back to the story [1] on nicekicks.com. Even the "sample" pair that sold on eBay last September used the same photos as the article on Nice Kicks. I couldn't found a single retail source offering these. OK, so I want to buy a pair if I can find them, too, but I'd primarily like to find out if they're for real or not (as well as the similar Mork & Mindy, Milli Vanilli and MC Hammer shoes—all part of the "Fallen Heroes" line). I want them to be real but I can't help but feel skeptical. Closenplay 00:55, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Primus reference?

Following the mention of Rueben's appearance in that cheech and chong movie and his line is the random sentence: "This is a line sampled by the rock group Primus for their song "Hamburger Train""). There's no trivia section, and i don't propose creating one just for this. Can i delete it? WHo really gives a shit about Primus, and more importantly, does it really merit inclusion? Es-won 17:24, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

I agree that a single passing mention in a song by an obscure group isn't significant. -Will Beback · · 18:15, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Closenplay makes it sound worthwhile. -Will Beback · · 20:36, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
While I'm not a fan of the band, they are reasonably well-known; I think that it's interesting enough to warrant inclusion. The song was released on a major label album, after all. Closenplay 20:05, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
Yes maybe, but in mid-biography? That is the nature of pop culture: in the plot synopsis for Star Wars they don't stop every sentence and mention its numerous homages; nor should a biography on James Brown mention individual rap songs out of the hundreds that sampled his material. Es-won 01:33, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Unless a new section is created elsewhere in the article—something along the lines of "Pee-wee references in popular culture"—I think as short parenthetical aside, it's fine where it is. Speaking of Pee-wee references, how about "Pee-wee's Dance" by Joeski Love? Closenplay 21:09, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
MY MAN. I've been wondering who made that song! Make it so... Es-won 12:01, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New Pee-wee movie a hoax?

Should it be noted that Reubens recently said on Jimmy Kimmel Live that he was lying about making a new Pee-wee movie? --(trogga) 01:42, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

I would just remove the mention of it from the article. Its not a notable hoax. --Knowpedia 03:48, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Pee-wee Sexuality

Hi, does anyone have a reference or information on what Pee-wee's night club act was like vs. his children's television show? The Wikipedia article cites a Pee-wee with an "imbued sexuality" that was "toned down" for the show. Thanks. 204.193.129.239 22:42, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Two quick examples: 1) When Hammy's sister comes looking for him, Hammy and Pee-wee put on shoe mirrors so they can look up her dress and see her underwear. She sees them trying and says, "I'm not wearing underwear". 2) Pee-wee hypnotizes an audience member, tells her she's uncomfortably warm, and has her take off her dress. There's more but those are the first two (and easiest) ones that come to mind. Closenplay 04:08, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Category:Saturday Night Live actors

As far as I know, Pee-wee was never a cast member, seems like this category should be removed. Murderbike 19:55, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

It'll be a moot point shortly - the category is headed for deletion. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 21:52, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Pee-wee redirect

I restored the note at the top that mentions Pee-wee Herman redirecting here. Does anyone think that's a bad idea? Murderbike 20:59, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

The only reason to have such a note is if there are other "Pee Wee Hermans" and we want to direct people to those. If there's no such ambiguity we usually just bold the redirected phrase, which is already done. Sice there's doesn't sem to be a reason to include it, I'll remove it. If you can think of a good reason, feel free to add it back. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 23:02, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Marriage?

I read somewhere that he is (or was) married to "Charlene Gail Heffner", is this true? It's not mentioned in the Wikipedia article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.128.144.74 (talk • contribs) 07:30, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

It's not true. He and Chandi Heffner exchanged "mock wedding vows", according to a Vanity Fair article. Most online mentions reference the Vanity Fair article. Closenplay 09:53, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dead?

Someone just called me and said that Paul Rubens passed away. Can someone verify this?12.210.58.36 04:40, 20 August 2007 (UTC)HouseofBurritos

Didn't happen. Closenplay 13:04, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
I don't know. I could have sworn I heard an NRP archival interview after his "recent passing" a year or two ago.RebDrummer61 (talk) 23:33, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Protection

Can we get this page protected? It's vandalized like every day.GuruAskew 07:51, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Seriously, it's a regular occurrence and it's a problem. Does anyone even read this talk page?GuruAskew 20:37, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, it happens regularly, but enough people watch this page that it usually gets reverted pretty quick. I don't think this article really qualifies for protection (not that I haven't thought about requesting it before). Closenplay 21:06, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Just looking at the history page, about 17 of the last 50 edits are vandalism reverts. Sometimes the reverts clean up more than one vandalism-related edits you can attribute at least 34 of those 50 edits to vandals and the subsequent reverts.

When a vandalism-related edits outweigh valid ones 4 or 5 to one you definitely need protection. Semi-protection would be best since it seems like all the vandalism comes from unregistered users.GuruAskew 22:33, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

I don't think it meets the criteria at WP:PROTECT, but I won't stand in your way if you feel strongly about it. Closenplay 00:52, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Abby Rubenfeld

I've added some material and cites regarding his sister, as noted, which I think will be of interest to our readers. Bearian 21:32, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Why is he Reubens but his sister Rubenfeld? Shii (tock) 16:54, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Stage name. Murderbike (talk) 17:11, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] US Marine?

I heard at one time he was a US Marine, does anyone know if it's true? 66.189.38.7 (talk) 03:07, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] "Extremely Creepy"?

Towards the beginning of the article someone wrote their misspelled opinion. I would just edit it out but the page is semi protected and I just signed up.Benjaminajacobs (talk) 01:54, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
