Talk:Paul Mauriat

What is 'music resevoir of Marseille'? Should resevoir be rese_r_voir (reservoir) in this context? Is this the name of a school of music in France in which case the spelling might be right OR is this a bad translation (possibly machine translation) and the word shouldn't even be resevoir/reservoir? Perhaps "music resevoir" means "music conservatory"? And "commencement" means "graduation"?
I added the discrography by refering to www.peter.com.tw. There are so many albums that I can't list them all. I just added year by year, and according to Peter's new recordings lists. Fan Decheng, May 26, 2006
Just letting people know that I added the sections about Paul's early career starting with his first EP in 1957, and the various pseudonyms he used on other recordings he made during this period. I also added an entry on music he composed for French soundtracks. He also composed some soundtracks with Raymond Lefevre in the late 60s, but as the entry was getting a bit lengthy, I didn't add this. I also added a section about creating "Le Grand Orchestre de Paul Mauriat" as this was a very different and separate orchestra Paul had to "Paul Mauriat et Son Orchestre" - the distinction had to be made clear as no one had mentioned "Le Grand Orchestre". It's my knowledge that Paul might have recorded some of his later Pony Canyon records with English musicians from the Philharmonic Orchestra (a good reliable friend told me this), that's why I've added that bit in - I know several of the Japanese albums were recorded in Paris and London. I want to add that after much searching and asking serious Paul Mauriat fans about "Chariot" that Raymond Lefevre was actually involved in this project. His name isn't credited on CDs / LPs, because he was the orchestrator of "Chariot" and not the composer. This information has been cited as being accurate in the Paul Mauriat tour program, and also on a CD that Raymond Lefevre put out of his efforts concerning "Chariot". Many people still think he wasn't involved, but he was - so the mystery has been solved of what his contribution was. I hope that people will add to the section I wrote on "Le Grand Orchestre de Paul Mauriat" as I'm sure there's much more that can be filled in under this section. I don't want to do it all, so I'll leave it for others to fill in the blanks with additional info. Also, maybe a section on the various concerts and concert video / dvd recordings could be included in a separate videography part, as many fans are interested in his concert appearances over the years. Mauriat also did some concerts not released to the public in 1980, 1984 & 1985. Maybe info could be included about these too as I don't know alot about these. Thanks. Peter Longworth, 11 July, 2006
I have deleted the link I created for Paul's Management - Val Productions. Else the URL for this site has shifted, or they don't have a website presence any longer. The site tended to be outdated and hadn't been updated for many years, anyway, so most of the information was easily past it. If anyone knows if Val Productions, Paris, has a new site, can they please add a hyperlink to the site. Thanks. Peter Longworth, 28 October 2007.
Could somebody please include the French pronunciation of his name? Thanks. Tim Legg, Jan 5, 2008. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.54.34.34 (talk) 01:19, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
