[edit] Tensions with Ranger Officers

I believe this information was gleaned from the film account of the Battle of Mogadishu; according to interviews and commentary from actual Delta Operators on the Black Hawk Down DVD, this aspect of 'conflict' between Delta and Rangers was a Hollywood invention. Unless someone can provide a verifiable source, this section should be removed. Alcarillo 17:25, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

I haven't seen the DVD that you're referring to, but Mark Bowden's book cites numerous examples of culture clash between Rangers and Delta, specifically between Howe and Steele. Howe's first-hand accounts described friendly fire from Rangers who were young and untested in battle, which resulted in resentment from him and his Delta brothers. Other than that, it is intuitive that two military groups that have different views on discipline matters- under the stresses of Mogadishu- would run into conflicts, or at the very least, frequent misunderstandings. What is the name of the DVD you viewed? I would like to see it. 24.251.132.178 07:33, 8 November 2007 (UTC) krl 12:26, 8 November

It's on the commentary track to the film featuring some of the men who participated in the battle. They dispute Bowden's assertions that there was tension between Rangers and Delta Force operators. But Bowden's book as a source should be included in the article, as should the different opinion offered up by the soldiers themselves on the commentary track. Alcarillo 19:13, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
