"there are many professors, maybe even millions or close to it, around the world and definitely throughout the history of higher education. Simply being a professor at Yale in and of itself make you notable. Nothing here shows us notability." this guy is a full professor at yale, the holder of a named chair. Very few people in the profession reach this level--it would be extraordinary to find someone of this rank at Yale or a similar top-level research university who is not notable--the process of getting there requires many prestigious publications and many peer-reviews, much more stringent than we do at WP.

WP:PROF requires greater notability than the average professor, and the tenured faculty at research universities are exactly that. You are correct that there are indeed millions of professors, lets say a million. Yale has about 3000, about one third of them full professors, and perhaps 50% of those have named professorships. There are perhaps 200 research universities in the world total, making 100,000 full professors holding named chairs in research universities, the top 10% of the total. There are perhaps about 20 universities of the quality of Yale,so we are talking about the top 1%. (although it may not have been obvious, the English department at Yale is probably one of the best two departments in the subject--the top 0.1%, )

I suggest checking the discussions of similar articles at the times they get nominated for afd before proceeding with the deletion of this one. i also suggest checking even just Google Scholar before proposing deletions--or looking in WorldCat for published books.
