Paul V. Johnson

Paul Vere Johnson (born 24 June 1954) has been asked to become the sixteenth Commissioner of Church Education of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Johnson was called to the First Quorum of the Seventy on April 2, 2005, subsequent to a call to the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy in June 2003. On June 8, 2008, the church's First Presidency appointed him commissioner, effective August 1, 2008.[1]

Johnson was born in Gainesville, Florida, and was raised in Logan, Utah.[2] As a young man, he was an LDS Church missionary in Norway,[3] after which he earned degrees from Brigham Young University and Utah State University.[2]

Johnson suffers from Crohn's disease.[3]
