Timman was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1973 and spent most of his young life in the region. He graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1995.[2] Timman first began tattooing in 1996, later moved to Los Angeles and got a job at Sunset Strip Tattoo in Hollywood, one of the most famous tattoo parlors in the world[3] and noted for its history of inking celebrities (Axl Rose wears a Sunset Strip Tattoo T-shirt in the "Sweet Child O' Mine" video).
Timman works on the Sunset Strip as an acknowledged specialist in tribal work,[4] traditional Japanese and Americana designs. He has a number of clients in the film industry which has also led to work painting temporary tattoos for films.[5]
Timman's celebrity clients[6] have included Pamela Anderson, Angelina Jolie, Ben Affleck, Drew Barrymore, Mark Wahlberg and Busta Rhymes. He made an appearance on VH1's "Show me your tats"[7] wherein he talked about his celebrity encounters, from making house calls to Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony's home to tattooing Tommy Lee[8] at his kitchen table.
