Paul Smith Jnr. (born October 6, 1982 in Liverpool, England) is an undefeated professional Middleweight Boxer , 5'11" tall and current holder of the WBU belt.

[edit] Biography
Paul has a son with partner Janine, has three brothers and talks with a distinctive Scouse accent. He cites watching Mike Tyson as his inspiration for becoming a boxer, and considers him one of his heroes along with "Sugar" Ray Leonard.
[edit] Amateur career
He started boxing at age nine with the Rotunda amateur boxing club and fought in South Africa, Uzbekistan, and Denmark representing England. He comes from a family of boxers and he and his brothers became the first group of siblings to all win The Amateur National Championships. In 2002 he won a silver medal for his country in the Commonwealth Games lousing to Jean Pascal by 2 points; Paul was then picked up by Frank Warren and turned Pro.

Smith's career has featured many bouts held within the UK, mainly in Liverpool and Manchester. He has faced Ryan Walls and Steve Timms, and ended the latter's career with a TKO in 1.
On 10th March, 2007, he KO'd the Belgium Alexander Polizzi in Liverpool, winning the WBU middleweight title in the eighth round.
On March 30th 2007, Smith took part in boxing's answer to Golf's Ryder Cup fighting American Jonathan Reid; the Nashville, Tennessee, resident lost to Smith on a Technical Knockout.
On September 4th, 2007, Smith joined nine other boxing hopefuls as members of Season 3 of The Contender. Smith fought rival David Banks from Portland, Oregon, and ended with a win for Smith by split-decision. However, since Smith had the lowest point total out of the remaining boxers, he was disqualified. The victory over David Banks was fought in Pasadena, USA and was broadcast on ESPN and ITV; Ray Leonard said Paul let his anger take away from his ability. Paul was left with two cuts, one on his nose and another around his eye; this meant he was medically unfit to continue the contest regardless of performance.
Smith has competed as a Super Middleweight but is currently fighting as a Middleweight.
He is scheduled to fight Steven Bendall on 21st June, 2008 in Birmingham, England.

Smith has sparred with friends Peter Manfredo and "The Hitman" Ricky Hatton. He is also a friend of the Cruiserweight boxing sensation "The Haymaker" David Haye. Paul is a supporter of Liverpool FC, loves his Bulldogs, and is a big movie and music fan. Paul is Catholic and wears a Crucifix around his neck. He says he always prays before a fight.
