George William Paul Pettit (born November 29, 1931 in Los Angeles, California) was a Major League Baseball pitcher in 1951 and 1953 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. According to the book The Baseball Hall of Shame 2, the southpaw pitcher was signed to a contract by a movie producer named Frederick Stephani for $85,000, with the idea that a movie and book would be forthcoming about Pettit. He later sold his contract to the Pirates for $100,000.
