From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paul Middleton is the managing director of RISCOS Ltd who are responsible for the development of the RISC OS Operating System versions 4 and 6. He founded RISCOS Ltd in January 1999 in order to try and rescue the development of RISC OS from Acorn Computers, following their decision to pull out of the desktop computer market in September 1998, in order to concentrate on the development of their Silicon design business Element 14. RISCOS Ltd was successful in raising over £150,000 in finance in order to purchase an exclusive licence to develop RISC OS for use in desktop computers from Element 14 in March 1999 after Middleton had led the "Phoenix" consortium of dealers and developers in discussions with Element 14. He delivers theatre presentations several times a year at RISC OS trade shows. In these presentations he demonstrates features incorporated in new versions of RISC OS, while commenting on their particular aspects and uses. The first of these was at the Wakefield Computer Users Show in May 1999, where he had to make 3 separate hour long presentations over two days to cope with the huge demand for information about the ongoing development of RISC OS.
