Paul M. Allen

Paul M. Allen is Robert L. Kroc Professor of Pathology and Immunology in Washington University School of Medicine. Allen is a cellular immunologist who specializes in the study of how T lymphocytes recognize antigen and initiate an immune response. He and Emil R. Unanue, Paul and Ellen Lacy Professor of Pathology at Washington University School of Medicine, discovered that antigen-presenting cells bind these peptides to a special group of molecules known as the major histocompatibility complex. In 2006, He served as the president of the American Association of Immunologists (AAI), the largest professional association of immunologists in the world.
