Paul Lovatt-Cooper

Paul Lovatt-Cooper is a percussionist and 'Young Composer in Association' with the world-famous Black Dyke Band and is fast becoming a well-known and prolific composer of music for brass band.

Paul is Head of Music at Wardle High School Performing Arts College.

Paul's composing breakthrough came with his composition 'Where Eagles Sing' which has been performed by countless brass bands the world over and recorded by such notable bands as Black Dyke Band, Cory Band and Brighouse & Rastrick Brass Band.

'Horizons' has been recorded by Brass Band Willebroek from Belgium, European Brass Band Champions in 2006 and 2007.

His composition 'The Dark Side of the Moon' was selected as the test piece for the 3rd section of the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain 2008 regional contests. The same piece of music has recently been selected as the test piece for the 3rd section of the Dutch National Brass Band Championships 2008 to be held in Groningen.

A CD recording of his music has been made by Black Dyke Band and is due to be released on the Doyen label in September 2008.
