Paul Kieve is a professional illusionist whose consulting work for both stage and screen has contributed to changing how magical special effects in productions are approached. His work for the stage production of "The Invisible Man" holds the world record for the most effects in one show. His current projects include the Harry Potter film series and Phantom of the Opera 2.
[edit] Early life
Kieve was born in Woodford, England in 1967 and started magic at 10 years of age after receiving a "World of Illusion" magic set as a birthday gift. He had his first public performance in 1984 at the age of 16 when he was in a Sade video. Over the next year, he competed for "Young Magician of the Year" (he was runner up) and started appearing on television.
[edit] Career
The Zodiac Brothers was formed in 1986 as a double act between Paul and Lawrence Leyton. After five years, the act finished out its run at Magic Castle in Hollywood. Kieve continues to do solo work at venues such as Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and the Palais De Congress.
Kieve has been doing effects work on movies and stage since 1991. His illusions and magic effects can currently be seen on the West End stage in Lord of the Rings Musical, Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
