From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Paul Keels is the current play-by-play announcer for Ohio State University's football and men's basketball teams.
Paul was the voice of Ohio State's rival the Michigan Wolverines from 1981 to 1987 and announced games for the Detroit Pistons. In 1988, he returned to his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio to become the voice of the University of Cincinnati Bearcats and host a sports talk show on WCKY-AM. In 1996, he became play-by-play voice for the Cincinnati Bengals on WLW. Following the 1997 football season, WLW's parent company, Jacor Communications, lost the rights to the Bengals, and Paul's contract was not renewed. He joined the Buckeyes starting in the 1998 season.
Paul has returned to work for the Bengals, as the pre-seaon announcer on WKRC-TV, with former Bengal offensive lineman Anthony Munoz.
Paul is also the author of Tales from the Buckeye Championship Season, which recounts the Buckeyes' 2002 National Championship season.
In October 2007, Keels was inducted into the Radio Television Broadcaster's Hall of Fame of Ohio
