It was in Britain that he first ventured into the media, working for BBC Radio & Television and on ‘The World Around Us’ with Sir David Attenborough. When he went back to his home he worked for National Radio and TVNZ in almost every position – producer, breakfast host, network newsreader and as a senior manager, also working in the corporate sector as a manager and in marketing. Paul is TVNZ’s Breakfast Host (along with Pippa Wetzell) from 6:30am – 9am on TV One and he hosts the Drive Show from 4pm – 6pm on RadioLIVE. He now also hosts the New Zealand version of This Is Your Life, which started up again in 2007 after a hiatus of seven years. In addition, he occasionally fills in for Mark Sainsbury as a backup presenter on the current affairs show, Close Up.

In 1999 he ran unsuccessfully for the National Party in the relatively safe seat of Wairarapa and lost the seat to Georgina Beyer, the first transsexual MP elected in the world.[1]
