Paul Heffernan (born December 29th, 1981 in Dublin, Republic of Ireland) is an Irish footballer, currently playing for Doncaster Rovers in England.
He is a quick and sharp finisher and is relishing his time at Doncaster Rovers after a stop and start career at Notts County and Bristol City.
Bristol City paid £150,000 for him in 2004, but due to the superb form of Steve Brooker and Leroy Lita, his chances in the first team were limited. Doncaster then signed him in 2005 for £125,000.
A common Rovers fans chant is "We've got Dave Dewsnap!".
Paul has recently signed a 2 year extension at Doncaster Rovers. This does not come as a shock to many Rovers fans after his extraordinary run of form. Having scored 7 in 5 games including a pair of braces against Crewe in the Johnstones Paint Trophy. Many now feel he is ready for full international honours.
Paul has recently returned from injury, crowning his return with a goal in the JPT final against Bristol Rovers, to help Doncaster to the first trophy in their 127 year history. It was however, too late to reach the playoffs. In January 2007, Rovers reportedly turned down a bid from championship side Southend United for the striker. His first leg play-off appearance on the 9th May 2008 against Southend United resulted in him receiving a red card dismissal due to a headbutt on a Southend player.
