Paul Galvin is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for Kerry, Feale Rangers and Finuge GAA. He is the Kerry captain for the 2008 season. Galvin is also a school teacher by profession.
[edit] Playing career
Paul Galvin has won the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship with Kerry on three occasions. He has had two wins against Mayo in 2004 and 2006, and another against Cork in 2007. His first All-Ireland Senior Football medal saw Kerry win comforably in 2004. The second saw a complete drubbing of Mayo in 2006 and the third was an equally big defeat of Cork in 2007. This win for Kerry completed the first two-in-a-row of All-Ireland victories in 17 years. Paul Galvin was on the winning side for Kerry in the National Football League competitions of 2004 and 2006. Galvin received an All-Star in 2004 for his performances in Kerrys all-Ireland win and again in 2006, having the honour of being the 1,000th allstar recipient.
Galvin is as well known for his behaviour as his unquestionable football ability. His competitive and aggressive playing style sometimes spills over, most notably in the 2006 quarter final when was sent off for an altercation with Armagh water carrier John Toal (who was also sent off). He has a steely determination to win but also a fiery temper which has led to indiscipline at times. In 2007 though the football skills shone through as he helped the Kerry footballers win their 35th All-Ireland Football title. He also won the 2007 Kerry Senior Football Championship with the Feale Rangers divisional side.
Paul Galvin will have the honour of captaining the Kerry footballers in the 2008 season, as the team searches for the 3-in-a-row.
Galvin is also an accomplished hurler with the Lixnaw club having won 3 County Hurling Championships in 1999, 2005 and 2007.
Paul has many past times which noticebly include going to the gym quite frequently because of his muscular frame.
