Paul Doucette

Paul John Doucette (born August 22, 1972) is the rhythm guitarist and former drummer for the band Matchbox Twenty. A native of North Huntington, Pennsylvania -- a suburb of Pittsburgh, located roughly 15 miles SE in Westmoreland County -- Paul graduated from Norwin High School in June 1990.

After moving to Orlando, Paul would eventually meet Rob Thomas and Brian Yale. The trio formed the core of what would become Matchbox Twenty.

  • He no longer plays drums in Matchbox Twenty. He now plays guitar for the group.
  • He started composing music for film in 2004. He won the Rhode Island Film Festival Best Composer Award for the short film 'Just Pray'
  • He is married to Moon Unit Zappa.
  • His biggest influences are REM and Kenny Aronoff.
  • He has a new song specially made for a Nickelodeon film named Shredderman Rules. The song's name is Better Days. He also composed the underscore for the film.
  • He has a daughter named Mathilda Plum born on December 21,2004.
