Paul Bérenger

Paul Raymond Bérenger (born March 26, 1945) is a Mauritian politician and former Prime Minister of Mauritius from 2003 to 2005. Bérenger, the only non-Hindu to become Prime minister of Mauritius thus far, founded the Mauritian Militant Movement. He was successful to succeed to Anerood Jugnauth. Jugnauth was prime minister for the first 3 years and Berenger took over for the remaining two years of their term. Berenger subsequently tried to run on his own in the following elections but lost.
